Hello, I just bought a 2006 ttr125 and the guy said it needed a new carb because gas was leaking out the overflow and he couldn’t find out what was wrong with it, I opened it up and messed with the float and I couldn’t figure it out myself so I just ordered a $30 carb off of amazon. I installed it and it seemed to run great around the yard but when I got on the road and started picking up speed it seems to just turn off once I slow down and down shift. I don’t know it’s like if I go to fast it will just completely die and right after it dies it won’t start, the es won’t work nor will the kick start, I have to wait a good 30 minutes before I can start it and it runs fine again. Anything helps! Thanks

First mistake was chunking what I assume was an OEM carb for a cheap knock off from china.  Carb was most likely leaking due to the float valve not sealing in its seat.  Usually just replace the seat and the valve and problem solved.  I know you said you "messed" with the float.  But if it's not adjusted correct, it can also allow the carb to overflow.  Most likely, its the seat not sealing.

My name is Marty, I'm 36, married with 3 kids. I work as a Robot and Controls Software Engineer in the automation industry with a lot of mechanical and electrical background. I have 2 Suzuki LT230s, one is a 1985 230 Shaft, the other is a 1987 230 quadrunner. The shaft has been amazing since the day i bought it about 5 years ago. The quadrunner was picked up as a project, it had a previous electrical fire due to improper splicing by previous owner, It has a wiseco high comp piston in it and all the gaskets have been redone. Im currently crafting replacement wires for a new harness im building for it. I gave the 230 shaft to my 12 year old daughter and she loves it, it is such a great and reliable machine. Im currently looking for a repair manual so that she can learn how to do her own maintenance.
I also built a 79cc predator powered quad for my 7 year old daughter from a blown up Temu quad i got for cheap.
I look forward to meeting some of you and learning some along the way!
