I am trying to figure out what the resistors do in this circuit.  From what I have read in the manual the head light/tail light circuit is A/C.  I am adding LED headlights/taillight so I want to convert it to D/C.  My assumption is the resistors in the circuit bleed off some power since the incandescent bulbs are low wattage.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.  I am not putting a Baja LED light kit or light bar, just LED bulbs in the stock location and a small cube flood mounted on the handle bars.  I already have the LED bulbs installed in the stock locations but they flicker badly.

Cheers,

John

Are you sure they are resistors and not diodes?  Usually there's a diode on AC circuits to prevent backflow of current.

The most simple answer is bury a battery somewhere on there to power the lights.  I'm not sure there's an AC/DC converter on board that would power LED lights.

Those are load resistors to protect the stator and voltage regulator. They will be even more useful if you start removing the lighting loads and should get nice and toasty warm. As MarkinAR mentioned you could wire in the LEDs on there own isolated battery circuit. You could add a rectifier just for the LED lighting circuit. You could modify the LED lighting to draw off the main battery. In this case you'll want to make sure your wattage doesn't exceed that provided to maintain the battery.

Thanks for the input Boys.  I am going to jump in there today and check the feed coming from the regulator to the battery(red wire in the wiring diagram I have attached under the pic above) with my meter and see if its D/C voltage.

O3 sat a while. Engine is running fine. I got it into neutral, did some general tune-up and cleaning then pulled the shifter pedal up and it locked up and will not release into neutral again.  Does anyone have experience with this problem?  Thanks for looking and any help.

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks
