New to Atv any help will be appreciated to identify as i need to order some parts such as starter clutch as starter is not engaging pull start works fine.and need to throw some rings in as very smokey.

I believe it's a 85 model .unfortunately no tag left on the frame.

Bike only has front suspension no rear suspension on this model.

Just 2wd , no high or low ,reverse lever postion on rightside case. Has full rack front and back .

Have been trying to locate a workshop manual but no luck any help will be appreciated .

Regards

Should also mention it's a chain drive .

Just confused to what model I actually have .

Is there anything that stands out to tell the difference between models ?

Regarding the starter motor free spinning when start button is pressed.

I put a new battery in it was looking for a 20 ah battery but was told a 12ah is fine this wouldn't cause the starter to not engage and free spin

Starts easier enough by pull start but I'm starting to get a bit old to be starting this way.

Cheers

Paul

I think from memory that some of the early models the frame number was stamped into the frame on a bottom chassis tube down under the motor, about under the crank, in a place where they got ground away.. If they were there they face out to the side. Give it a wire brush and if you can see something then use a knife or scraper to very carefully scrape over the numbers lightly till you can see an impression where they had been stamped.. Don't scrape too hard or you will wipe it all, but sometimes you can make out the slightly raised metal around the numbers.

If you look up an online parts place and compare various years around the suspected year you may be able to narrow it down. Carbys change, headlights, body colour..

I think you have a 1985 Suzuki LT250EF, I could be wrong but here is a picture of the one I have.  The starter for these should be on the front and I would check the starter put a jumper pack directly to the starter for a brief second just to see if it has anything left in it, if it turns then it might still be good and it could be a bad solenoid or some other electrical thing.  (I don't know much about electrical stuff I kind of just replace things until it works so I would ask someone else about that)  The piston rings could be a problem I would also check valve seals, this has dual over head valves so it is likely a valve seal could have gone bad, taking the valve cover off is easy on these just don't break the small bolts soak them in PB blaster or something first, then if they still feel like they are going to break heat up the metal around them.  If you need anymore help I did a top end with piston rings and a cylinder hone to this engine so I can help with that.  Here is a link to a parts diagram https://www.suzukipartshouse.com/oemparts/l/suz/50d08585f870022710159ef4/1985-lt250ef-parts

I have a electrical diagram for it too, I can post a picture of it if you want.

The rack I have on mine is not original neither are the rear tires.  Mine has no rear suspension only front suspension, has the reverse level on the left above the foot peg and the gas tank is next to the rear tire.

I have a 12V 9AH battery in mine and that works, a 12V 12AH battery would probably fit though.

These machines are tough when they work.  They are a lot of fun in the snow, I just took mine out yesterday and it goes through anything.  I recommend getting OEM Suzuki rings for it because a lot of parts for this thing aren't very accurate they say there for it but a lot of times they are not.  Also check to see if it needs to be bored or honed depending on how the piston looks, mine has almost 4,000 miles and it's bore seemed to be good.  On the parts diagram the have 3 or 4 sets of different rings to buy one is standard and the others are over sized.

      Hi everyone.
Let me explain the thread title.
My husband and I are very active in the nudist community, and we have stayed at many and most of the mainstream nudist and clothing optional campgrounds in the USA. We are now approaching our retirement and would like to start a podcast to share those off the road / backwoods / little known camping areas where nudity is allowed. We have purchased a 5th wheel camping trailer with a rear garage for the ATV and now need some good reports on the one to buy.
We are most interested in a side by side unit but would love to get your thoughts.
Feel free to stop by and say Hi and ask anything you would like to better understand what we are looking for in an offroad unit.
Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you.

      Hi Guys!

New member and could really use your advice. I would have to believe this has been an issue for others but a search here came up with nothing......? (Probably me not doing search correctly)

      I have an 87 Big Bear 350 YFM350FWT
The OEM Mikuni BTM carb is shot and would rather replace than rebuild.
It is no longer made and I have had good luck with NICHE carbs so I ordered a #K-CRB-0006 This was what they said was replacement when ordered. This Carb only uses 1 Throttle cable. The Slide is linked so it uses one. (OEM had 2nd cable coming through top to move slide)

Problem is when I ordered a replacement Cable from NICHE (#C-CBL-0061) the Cable wire is a little short, not allowing Throttle to return all the way down to Idle position. I called NICHE and they are at a loss. Haven't gotten back to me after 2+ weeks.

What would you recommend other than a carb rebuild?
Can I just use 1 of the OEM cables (It is the right length) and snip/disconnect the other that went to top of Carb for Slide?
      Or ??

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!!

So I've got a Hisun 550 that I was doing some work on that required removing the CVT and it's housing. Upon attempting to reinstall the clutch, sheaves, etc, I found that the belt no longer fits - it's far too wide. None of the parts have been replaced, they're all OEM. Exactly the same parts as what I took off a few weeks ago.
To be more specific, my belt is 1.25in wide, but the gap between the clutch and the primary sheave is only 7/8in wide. I'll include a few photos to explain.
Has anyone ever experienced such a bizarre problem? Any help at all would be appreciated, I've been stuck on this for a month. I'm open to just about any suggestion.

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!

I’m looking for a top end kit for a Yamaha. I would like to see how well the engine runs before spending $6-$7 hundred on oem. Niche has complete kits from $1-$2 hundred.  Anyone have experience with Niche or similar Chinese companies?
