  1. These machines are tough when they work. They are a lot of fun in the snow, I just took mine out yesterday and it goes through anything. I recommend getting OEM Suzuki rings for it because a lot of parts for this thing aren't very accurate they say there for it but a lot of times they are not. Also check to see if it needs to be bored or honed depending on how the piston looks, mine has almost 4,000 miles and it's bore seemed to be good. On the parts diagram the have 3 or 4 sets of different rings to buy one is standard and the others are over sized.
  2. I think you have a 1985 Suzuki LT250EF, I could be wrong but here is a picture of the one I have. The starter for these should be on the front and I would check the starter put a jumper pack directly to the starter for a brief second just to see if it has anything left in it, if it turns then it might still be good and it could be a bad solenoid or some other electrical thing. (I don't know much about electrical stuff I kind of just replace things until it works so I would ask someone else about that) The piston rings could be a problem I would also check valve seals, this has dual over head valves so it is likely a valve seal could have gone bad, taking the valve cover off is easy on these just don't break the small bolts soak them in PB blaster or something first, then if they still feel like they are going to break heat up the metal around them. If you need anymore help I did a top end with piston rings and a cylinder hone to this engine so I can help with that. Here is a link to a parts diagram https://www.suzukipartshouse.com/oemparts/l/suz/50d08585f870022710159ef4/1985-lt250ef-parts I have a electrical diagram for it too, I can post a picture of it if you want. The rack I have on mine is not original neither are the rear tires. Mine has no rear suspension only front suspension, has the reverse level on the left above the foot peg and the gas tank is next to the rear tire. I have a 12V 9AH battery in mine and that works, a 12V 12AH battery would probably fit though.
  3. Ok, yeah sorry I’m still new to some of this stuff I was told by somebody if it runs to lean on fuel sometimes it will burn up the motor. I always run engines a bit richer just in case.
  4. It could be something with the stator, I have a Suzuki Lt250ef and it was having spark issues and I replaced the pickup coil which signals when spark should happen and it solved the problem, do you have a timing light? If you don't get one of those and check to see if the spark is happening at the right time it could be something wrong there. Stators ussually can be adjusted because the bolts have some play to them so you can adjust spark timing, maybe it got knocked out of adjustment and it isn't sparking at the right time.
  5. I'm new to the forum but have a bit of experience with older suzuki atv's. I have a 1985 Suzuki Lt250ef, it is a good machine when it works, the first issue I had with mine was that somebody put the wrong carburetor on it beacuse they got one from amazon that was "universal" but it barely fit and didn't work at all. I found an original carburetor, the way to know if it is the right one is original carburetors for this model have the remote choke thing on the side of the carburetor. After I got that fixed it had low compression so I did a top end rebuild on it. I got a original suzuki gasket and piston rings. I only had about $100 into it at that point because I got every thing off ebay. Then after the rebuild it had inconsistant spark, one day it would have spark the next day it wouldn't. I found the issue to be the pickup coil, I looked and a whole stator was $500 so I looked up suzuki pickup coil and it looked the same so I just spliced the wires and used that one and it seemed to work, besides the first time i put it in upside down and had to take it apart again and flip it. After I did all that it ran great and ended up with like $130 into it. If you have any questions about it ask, I don't have a manual but I do have a wiring diagram so if you need that I can post a picture of it.
  6. If it is a four stroke engine it runs on straight gas. I have a Quad runner 250 and it is a similar engine. It only takes oil in the crankcase from what I know. My engine always ran a little hot but 300 F does sound like a lot though. I would make sure the mixture is right, if it is running to lean (not enough fuel) it will get hot because fuel cools the engine. There should be a mixture screw on the carburetor turn it out a 1/4 turn and see if the temperature decreases.
