This unit was brought to me this way with a new carburetor on it and read valves it fires up cranks fine but it won't accelerate I push the button in on the override it backfired and blow the head or loose from the spring at the head I'm figuring it's a CDI issue or bad switch or something I just want to bypass it all together and see what happens anybody out there got a clue I'm being told that it will live after I eliminate a wire which wire is what I need to know

What make of bike is this Big ?

Do you know what the over-ride button is meant to be over-riding ? It could be a start inhibit over-ride...  so it can start in gear ?

And.. have you checked what the spark-plug is like, checked the exhaust isn't blocked, checked the fuel flow, or tried cleaning the carby ?

Have you checked the charging system is charging and regulating ?

Any of those things could give the no rev symptoms.

I had a read.. I'm assuming this is a polaris sort 400..

You might have a switch in the throttle on the bars that is playing up, or the throttle cable may be adjusted wrong.  To test those and the limiter control unit they say to disconnect the black kill wire from the cdi unit..

You should geta a service manual and have a read..

There's a manual in the service manuals section of this site.. It's called "1999-2000 service manual"..

Up the top, "more", "atv service manuals", half way down the new page that opens you choose your make..

Page 602 in the manual....

      Hello there
I'm having a problem finding a quality carburetor for a 1993 Suzuki Quad Runner lt-f 250 2x4. I find a lot that have 3-4 star ratings. And all so far don't have the right throttle Cable inlet at the top. The last one I got 4 star on Amazon has a threaded cable sheath rest that could be partially drilled to work. I would prefer to get one I don't have to modify. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

This old boy has been coastal so lots of rust. But when I turn the key, nothing. Green neutral light works, head/tail lights work. Was running fine when I parked it for a few months.. no issues with starter. This did happen once before (last year).. not sure what overcame it.. maybe playing around with gear shifter.. but not sure if that was what did it. But doesn't seem to do anything now when I play around with it while hitting the start button.
I did take apart the handlebar mounted start button housing and looked it over. Couldn't figure anything out there, but looked the same as when I had the problem last year. Put my probes on various wires there but didn't learn anything.. not sure how it is wired.
So this first image there is a connector with 2 wires coming from forward (the male part of connector) - one blue and one blue w/ red stripe. The blue continues down to a post near where the gear shifter enters the housing. (Second image). I was wondering about that.. I opened up the connector and the 2 wires (coming from forward) show continuity when I put my probes on 'em. Thought that was weird, but maybe supposed to be like that? I turned on the key and tested for voltage but didn't find any.
I'm just unaware of how to test for anything. Would be interesting to put 12 volts to the starter, but not sure about doing that or how. The wires going in are kind of hard to get to. I suppose I could take out the starter.. but wanted to ask if there is something easier to check first.
      Thanks for looking!

I Ran across this video today comparing an aftermarket to OEM Carb on Suzuki Vinson, thought it might generate some interest, it is quite long but informative.

Does the pull rope have to be on the machine to get top dead TDC? The rope was gone on this one when I got it. Or, can a plastic tool be used in spark plug hole to feel for TDC on compression stroke? Thanks for all info! 🙂

I got my no spark issue sorted out, got it running on the old aftermarket carb, but it didn't want to take throttle even after cleaned it, didnt really want to waste time on it, so I order a new one which is on its way, so not much to post here, but I wanted to start a new thread. I am stating to clean up the plastics thought I might as well do that while they are off, they were a mess tree sap, bird dropping, mold and what ever. Washed them good and got all off so I could see the oxidation , decided to wetsand with 600 grit waterproof sandpaper, and used Armour All instead of water. I figured it could put some of the moisture back in that was lost from sun exposure.

Working fairly well I will keep going finer on the grit and see if it will polish
