Hey all, BruinBeater here. Just joined up from the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Got a Polaris Sportsman 1000 and a 570 in the garage that don't get ridden quite enough but looking forward to a family trip this fall.
I'm the unofficial mechanic of the extended family. In the past month or so I've replaced a transmission in a Chevy Silverado, rust repair on a Chevy Malibu, electrical repair on a Subaru Crosstrek, overheating issue solved on a Can Am Commander, and right now I have a pair of Grizzly and a Bruin 350 in the garage. Both have a no start condition and have been sitting for 2+ years.

another new guy. have a Yamaha Kodiak 700 and Polaris 500HO. My brother has a couple of Polaris. Summer in northern Michigan and ride some in Michigans UP where we have a cabin in backwoods. New to quads last year as far as owning one. Have been a jeeper for many years and modified/built several so have some mechanical ability, pretty knowledgable electrically too. Initially started reading the forums to find out what others using for lubes and common issues, other maintenance etc. Hopefully I can contribute.

I'm currently pulling my hair out over a customers 98 bayou 2x4 KLF300b. I've changed every electrical component on it twice and in a couple instances three times. Still no spark, I am baffled. Initially customer brought it to me complaining of a hard start no start situation and in fact, it wouldn't start. I changed the starter relay, spark plug, CDI box, and starter circuit relay after which it fired right up ran very well but then started having issues with the neutral switch/light where it wouldn't come on and wouldn't allow it start or even turn over. I found in the wiring harness a loose connection, I got it taken care of and secured and that solved the problem. So now that it would crank up again and run fine I called the customer over to test it out see what he thought as I've never heard it run before and I wanted to get his opinion on how it was running. Customer ride it around a little bit pulled it back on my carport and turned the key off and said it was great, and had never ran better or started so easily, then we set up a time for him to come pick it up the following day and he left. Well where he pulled it on my carport and shut it off was in the middle of the carport so I jumped back on it to park it off to the side, crank it up no problems put it in reverse went about maybe 18 inches and it stalled and ever since that point it has not had spark or run. I replaced the CDI box again with a better brand, I replaced the ignition coil twice put another starter relay on it and I've also changed out the stater and the pick up coil (pick up coil twice) and I'm just I'm lost I don't know what else to do to it. I've had this customers four wheeler for four months now whereas he's a patient guy I need to get it out of here so I can move on to something else. I've seen dozens of threads across different sites for off-road, 4 wheelers, ATVs, UTV's, whatever and they are all experiencing the same sort of issue but they never ever post hear the problem was or the fix. So I'm hoping somebody here has a little bit of knowledge on this particular issue sent since it seems to be so widespread. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Found this site by accident, wow there is a ton of info here! I am just a farmer from east central Alberta looking to find what the largest width of tire that fits on the front of a 06 kodiak. The 25x8x12 suck as that quad is sort of front heavy.
Cheers🍻

So i recently acquired an 07 400 auto, paid $1000 and only has 900 miles on it, the thing is in fabulous condition, unfortunately it has had a good bit of work done to it, and everyone loves picking up on an unfinished project. So here is what i've got. It supposedly has a new stator in it (looks like it does), it came with two more, one is worn out, like the tops of the poles are smooth, and the other one looks used, but the flywheel is not harmed. it came with a new cdi box (Procom PE-C-AS/K400-A) not sure if this is compatible or not, but when i plugged it up, i think it may have blown the ign fuse. it came with a new (UP2) voltage regulator. and the spark plug coil is not stock, have the old broken ones, everything works but no spark, it has an new aftermarket left handle switch cluster, also have the old one, and i don't know if it is supposed to have more, but there is only one diod in the fuse box, i have a wiring diagram, as well as all of the manuals, the red green wire At the cdi only has 9 voltes, and the wiring diagram says that it is the "Revers". I live about 30 minutes away from a atv junk yard, so if i can't figure it out, i will just take a day and start swapping stuff untillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll it works, PS. if you had a 00 Polaris 500, and an 07 cat 400, which one would you keep? so far the Polaris is winning, cause i've fixed it, but just curios? here is a question, how many volts should i be getting from the magneto when turning it over, the book says the blue and green wires should have over 5 volts, but doesn't say if thats running or not? Yes I have tried, swapping the wires the stator wires to revers polarity , he bought OEM and China, my stator/magneto tests fine accept for voltage the green and blue wires on the four pronged plug, which are said to be magneto trigger wires? One blue/- green/+, and the book says it should be over 5 volts, but is that when it's running, starting, sitting? I get a slight change in volts when turning it over, like .5 .7 volts? ps. this is just a bunch of my comments from the artic chat forum, so i wouldn't have to retype it all. any info wanted.
