I recently purchased a complete lt230s for$50. It was missing the kick starter gears which I got off eBay for $18. I’m trying to install the gears which after reading different threads about having it timed. I have it all timed but now it acts like engine is seized up but I know it’s not. What could be going on??? Any insight would greatly be appreciated.

So the kick lever won't push down ?

It's a pretty simple ratchet mechanism, I'd check that part was installed correctly and that that shaft could move and turn the engine, then I'd assemble the other shaft and gears..

No the kick lever won’t go down. I’ve had it apart several times. I took the clutch basket out to make sure the gears were binding and they were free spinning. So reinstalled the clutch basket, put cover on and kick lever won’t move

Yeah, with the cover off, push down on the kick lever by hand gently and try turning the clutch basket by hand or with a wrench to try and determine where it is binding, or what is going on. Im wondering if you got the correct gear, easy to get the wrong part off ebay, i know first hand, you have to look at the part very carefully.

After borrowing my buddy’s manual I got it figured out. Feeling like dummy I had everything timed EXCEPT for the kick start lever. After lining up the marks on the kick start shaft and gear everything works flawlessly. Thanks everyone for input!

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

I was looking to buy a new ATV.
I was debating between Polaris sportsman 450 and Honda rancher.
      Polaris it a bit cheaper.
But can you tell me which one will have more demand on the used market? Which one will keep it's value better?

Let's say 3-5 years from now.

I have a 1997 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4. It used to start right up. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't crank. I have a schematic for it so I started tracing the problem. I had no power at the starter solenoid. According to the schematic the power comes from the neutral switch and through the starter circuit cut out relay. I cannot locate the cut out relay on this machine.. If I apply power to the relay it will crank with the start button.
The neutral switch is hard to get to with all the brackets on this thing. I did find out from all my research that if I apply the rear brake lever it will start.
Does anybody know if the cut out relay exists and where it might be found?
