I know this is long shot but, would anyone know where I can find a good used or new original carb for a 2000 YFB250 Timberwolf 4x4.

Every Yamaha dealer I look at on line, it says not available. I have tried 2 aftermarket carbs, and they suck, I would like to find a used original if possible.

And I have another question. Everyone says about Chinese aftermarket stuff is junk, Where does the aftermarket stuff come from when the original in from China ????

What's wrong with the original ? Just about everything can be repaired. They can tolerate a lot of wear between the slide and the body, and seized idle mixture screws can be got out.

I use Power sports Nation and Ebay for used parts, it took me a while but i finally found OEM carbs for all mine. Purchased them and rebuilt them with a reputable carb kit, most times you dont need a kit but OEM gaskets are as much as the whole kit, so i go that route just to get the gaskets.

It already had an aftermarket carb on when I got it.

Thanks you. I will check them out. I tried Ebay but the only thing I could find was aftermarket.

Since the OEM carbs are difficult to come by without paying an arm and a leg, I've had good results using te Shindy carburetor rebuild kits on the cheap Chinese carburetors you can get on Amazon. I'll typically replace all the jets then set the float height to OEM and then fie tune from there. Sometimes the needles need the position changed depending on which model you get.

Thats interesting, never tried it, wasnt even sure a kit would fit the chinese carb. I have seen thread differences jet differences choke differences. But you are right OEM for that year is hard to find.I looked everywhere for Tim and i havent found one for that year yet.

I must have the last one on the planet. Or at least the only one with a carb problem. I also want to thank you for the info for parts nation, I'm going to check them out for parts for my sons camelsaki quad.

If I remember correctly the carb kits are just about as much as another carb. I did see a carb on amazon from Caltric. I have used parts from them in the past with good results, I may try one from them if I have to get another after market one.

There was a seller on Ebay a few years back selling genuine mikuni carbs, i bought one for my big bear, but had to contact them to find it , wasnt listed. The name was NIKKI CYCLE. They may be able to help you find one. They werent as expensive as OEM but more than chinese. You might check to see if they are still around.

Fixing for a friend. Atv was at a different friends house to be fixed and he rebuilt the carb and had it running nice, then it shut off and no more. He replaced the key and the coil.

So he got busy, so I am helping, I checked the wiring from the stator to the cdi, and from the cdi to the coil. All is good. I checked resistance on the pickup coil, good, and on the source coil, open. I buy a new stator (China) and the 4 prong plug only has 3 wires in it while mine has all 4. I checked resistance in the source coil and it's in the 300's. I pulled one of the old pickup wires out of the old stator and wire it in the new one. Still no spark.

Why do the wires differ, I checked the VIN again and it's "J" for the year and I got a 1988 stator. Please help!
