more work put about 10 hours into it prob more i dont know for sure but here is it all torn down and outside for a power wash to get 15 years worth of dirt and grease off

polarisnothing.jpg[/img]

next is the rear fender half painted to show the new color and the old plastic.. i know painting plastic has a lot of problems but i found this new paint called "plastic dip" the stuff is like spray on rubber it is very flexible and is pretty good with adhering to the plastic plus its very tough paint

rearfender1.jpg

here it is entirely painted

rearfender2.jpg[/img]

here is the exhaust i painted used to be a nice rust color took me a while to get it prepared for paint but i finally finished it...i used rust-o-leum outside grill paint made for high heat

and finally this is me just putting in some detail

thanks bot cant wait either..DirtDemon that paint is just like spray on rubber it is extremely flexible i tried peeling some off with my finger nail and it didnt work so i used a flat head screw driver i got a little off and the paint is like a rubber band its pretty stretchy i would definalty put 2 or more coats of paint on though one is just not enough.. and for colors it says that there are various colors to choose from but all i have found were yellow and flat black, so idk how big their color choices are

yea i agree a late 90's polaris would be a lot easier to work with because you wouldnt have to deal with 2 strokes and the amount of work it needs is not going to be as labor intensive..another reason i say this is because of all the people mine has been through... 1 person had a zip-tie rave and everything was zip-tied even the muffler.. another had a tape fase..another had a hose clamp fase.its been through so many people i forgot how many guys i was told owned it before me

I may be wrong about that. It looks like they made them until 2003 though. You can buy a piston from ATV parts for up to a 2003.

I don't know if this is right though AAEN performance says 93-97.

***UPDATE*** Just ordered a bunch of parts..mounted the exhaust on..funny story about that broken bolt on the manifold i brought up in another forum..we bought drill bits and got the e-z out bits, they where working out well until my dad hit the e-z out just one to many times and on the 3rd hit it broke inside the bolt..and because the metal is so hard we tried getting it out but between frustration and anger, we just drilled a new hole right next to the broken bolt and now the exhaust is on...im currently redoing the front suspension. and im rebuilding the shocks i will post pics tomorrow of the before and after..everything that i ordered should be here in the next couple weeks so i can finally get this project going..MAN DO I LOVE EBAY..

o yea and im going to repaint the frame in the next few days

yea it is fun..but fixing something that has been outside for a year is ruff... every single bolt that i took off broke or is stripped and nothing was really taken care of on this bike...it was in such bad shape, im surprised all the electrical works..

I've got a 1995 220 Bayou and the electric start does not work.  When I got it the machine was pretty rough but I was told it ran less than a year ago.  The key switch had been cut off and wires  twisted after the key was lost.  I bought a new ignition switch and repaired the wiring and it is working correctly.  It is in neutral and the neutral light is on when the key is turned on but I get nothing when pressing the start button.  I verified there is no voltage going to the starter from the solenoid.  The fuse in the solenoid is good.  Something I found that is odd is that I get positive voltage(12 volts) to the brown, black, and white wires that run into the solenoid when the key is on.  That doesn't make sense to me but I could be wrong.  I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance.

I bought this from a buddy to plow snow up in the North Eastern Washington- its been getting oil in the water and I've been changing the oil often and adding collant as necessary-
I've taken the stator cover off and I'm looking at the Oil Seal and water pump seal and they look good- Although I've ordered a factory oil Seal I'm looking at putting it in this afternoon-
I don't have the factory service manual- am I suppose to Add RTV to the Stator cover Gasket? I've seen some folks suggest grease other suggest RTV?

Any suggestions here- I'm trying to reassemble it tonight- I looked at downloading the manual but need to get up to 10 posts firsts it looks like-

I appreciate any suggestions- normally I'm a jeep and honda dirt bike guy- but  I got a good deal on the quad and a plow so I went for it
Its got a bit over 3K and runs pretty good- but I've had her tore apart for 3 weeks to figure out the oil in the coolant issue.

So.. it a weird one.. The quad surges as you go down the road. By the looks of my tracks, it's one wheel only. High range, low range, 2 wd , 4 wd.. It just doesn't matter..
You can see in the pictures the marks it leaves. That was in a straight line, with hardly any acceleration.
      Any ideas?

Ok guys Ive got a few more for ya.
      TIRES:
Ive thought about getting new rubber for the wheeler it has some half worn down 25" Kenda executioners on it and Id like to get something that maybe rides a little better and does as good or better in the mud if thats an option. Any tire model suggestions? Also I would like to go to a 27" or mayb e even a 28" are there any disadvantages to doing this would I have to change anything on the wheeler to make up for the larger tires? Ive had a couple people tell me that they would be hard on the clutch.
      WHEELS:
Ive seen some really nice looking aluminums but not sure they are tough enough to handle trail riding...Are they??? If so what would you reccommend, id like a little off set to give it a slightly wider stance and better stability but a buddy has a set of ITP wheels and the rear is offset a lot compared to the frnt and it looks great but hes constantly getting the back wheels hung up on trails
      SNORKEL:
I see that the airbox on the brute is where a normal wheelers gas cap would be, so that being said am I good to go with water as long as it doesnt go over that point os is it not sealed up to the box? Also how about the belt and it staying dry, do I need to do anything to ensure that it doesnt get soaked and leave me stranded.
Oh by the way I love this thing the more I ride it the more Im glad I went with the powerhouse, Ive run with a couple polaris 500s 700s a grizzly 660, and 700 and a couple rincon 680s that were built and they cant touch my stock 750, although she likes her gas thats for sure i got about 50miles and Im needing a refill

2022 Sector 550, 414 miles on it and the gas gauge reads empty.  I topped off the gas and it didn't change.
There is no fuse that I could find.  No access at the gauge cluster.
Wiring on the top of the tank looks good, properly connected.
Could the sending unit in the tank be stuck or broken?
Has anybody removed the tank lid?  Any tricks?
      Any other ideas?
      Thanks for any help,
      Clyde
