I got this 1984 Suzuki LT 250E for free if I could get it running. Sat in the bushes for years so I spent the past few days working on it to get it running. I took it for a test drive and the chain slipped off and whacked the side cover on the engine so hard it blew a hole right through it. :aargh:

My problem now is trying to get a replacement part, but I don't even know what it's called. It came off the left side right by the shifter and the pull cord assembly was attached to it. I have some pictures here of exactly what it is I need so if someone can tell me what it is officially called and maybe where I can find one online that would be awesome. Pics:

Here is a link to a parts fische. Use the dropdown menu to look up your model, lood for an '85, I couldn't find an '84 250. Select "crankcase cover" from the dropdown menu, you are looking at part #18 on the list.

It is almost $100 and these guys have some of the best prices for online OEM parts. You might find it a little cheaper at Servicehonda.com, but probably won't be much different.

As the title says, I've got a crankcase full of fuel / oil to deal with and figure I'll just start from the top and move through the system.  Going to start with a rebuild of the petcock and then the carb if the problem isn't fixed with the petcock rebuild.  I figure I'll go with a Moose kit unless others with experience recommend another brand (All Balls, etc.)
      Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

I'm in the middle of repairing damage from the chain coming off of this from the previous owner. (I learned this is somewhat common on these for various reasons.)
What are you guys using to either help keep the chain correct and on the sprocket or guarding your engine in the case that it comes off / breaks?
Is there an upgraded guard that can bolt around the sprocket in replacement of the currently broken OEM alluminum?

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?
