You guys have all been such a great help on all of my old threads but this one i think will be different than any one you've posted on before. When i bought my 05 yfz450 from a buddy of mine, it had no title with it. I have since moved to utah and i am dying to hit the dunes here but, unlike mississippi, you have to register your bike here to ride. So on my journey to do so i found out that i need the title or manufacturers certificate of origin. I found the store that sold the bike but they can't give me the mco because the bike was originally in someone elses name. Has anyone ever been in this position? I need to title the bike in utah to register it here since i now live here so this has become quite labor intensive. Can someone please help me?!! I don't think a bill of sale is enough. Yamaha dealer here told me that i need the title or mco to get it titled. DMV has been closed since friday so i haven't gotten a chance to speak to them about it yet. All advice is welcome. I have a 700 raptor also that i can ride till then but it's just not like my 450:).

in mississippi where i come from, there is rarely a title involved in a used atv. and yes, i am fairly sure that it is not stolen. i know the guy that i bought it from. he bought it from someone and fixed it just to sell it.

Well, good luck to you, I am sure you now know why it is not such a good idea to buy any type of vehicle without a title. The DMV should be able to help you figure out if it is stolen or not, here in WA, we would need to take it to a State Patrol inspection center, they won't tell you anything about it here if it isn't there for them to confiscate if it does turn out to be stolen. Then they would want to know who you got it from, if you have no one elso to pass the buck to then they may just assume that you stole it. If you want a clear conscience, you should atleast try to ask the DMV if they can tell you weather or not it is stolen, if they can't help you, I am sure they can tell you where to go. If it is anything like it is here, even if it isn't stolen, getting that thing registered in your name could be difficult and time consuming at best. Your best option may be to buy a titled frame off of Ebay and swap everything to the titled frame. As long as the numbers on the motor are clean, you will have a legal machine.

New quads did not come with a title in OREGON until 2008. Before that, all OHVs, including dirtbikes just didn't have a title. You could register it, but why?

Now titles are provided but ppl still sell used stuff without one since it is not required.

Utah: file for a new title as a resident. Old title was lost/stolen. The DMV can do a nationwide search in a few seconds WHEN they get around to it.

Don't worry about it.

search for Utah DMV- they prob have a site that can answer some of your questions.

if it's like Oregon, BRING MONEY.

well, i found out the bike is not stolen. waiting on mississippi to send me some paperwork that i have to sign and send back to get the title history to the bike. i know who it's registered to but trying to find him has proved to be a challenge. the dmv here told me if i can have it titled in mississippi then i could register it here and that would probably be the easiest thing to do.when i get that paperwork in i'm going to call them and see about starting the process of obtaining a bonded title from back home. it may take 2 or 3 months maybe longer but i'll get it worked out one way or another. i was doing all this so i could sell it and build up my 700 raptor but after all this, i may just keep both of them....lol...thanks guys for the info.

I have replaced the cracked stator cover on my non-running 2006 LT-F400F that I purchased recently, checked all the shafts vs the service manual and pics and advice here.  I replaced missing gears, bushings and washers, made sure that truth marks were all aligned properly, that the shift cam springs felt like they returned properly, etc.  IAfter installing the new stator cover I checked the transfer lever for proper movement from L-H-R and then cranked it up.  Happily, it runs and changes gears well in L,  but it will not shift into H or R for anything.  I have opened it back up and am going back through it looking for the missing puzzle piece(s) but how can I best check that I have everything right this time before buttoning it back up?

Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years.
He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year.
I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days
But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing)
Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20%
I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle
