I have a 09 quadsport 400. It's only got a few hours on it. I put an aftermarket exghause on it, drove it up and down the street, shut it off and it would not start again! The yellow 5 fuse blew, when I put a new one in it blows too. It controls my starter and all my lights and is connected under the seat to the battery. I tried disconecting the battery thinking it might reset the computer and work but it didn't. Every time i put a new fuse in it blows right away. There are no pinched wires and I've tried everything! Please help me! This is driving me nuts!

if you are blowing you main fuse then you are shorting directly to ground. it is a process of elimination from there. it will be between the fuse and the part using the power. i would disconect the lights and starter then put in a new fuse. if it does not blow then start slowly connecting the parts back on until the fuse blows thus finding your issue. my gut is telling me that you are shorting through your starter to ground.

Your friendly neighbourhood mechanic.

you were absolutely right! The best andvice I could have gotten considering I didn't have an electrical tester. For anyone with problems of fuses blowing, get a electrical wire tester!

Thanks for your help!

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.
