Engine problems #2

Recommended Posts

I am new to this site and am still learning to use it. Thanks to all who welcomed me, sorry i havent found out how to message back.

My raptor 350 sounds like crap. Sounds like its something in the bottom end. Checked the oil and it looks fine, no signs of metal. After having it rebuilt a couple of years ago i am wondering if its worth fixing. Anybody have any clues of about how much it would run to fix it if its in the bottom end? Low ballpark/high ballpark? I cant get it into a shop this week and somebody is interested in buying it for $800.

Was told the timming chain was getting badly worn and it would make noise, which it was. But it is gotten to be a loud clank, not really a tick or hard knock.

Thanks for any advise

I hope I make this very easy for you to make your decisson on what to do. I know we posted part it out. Just go to ebay and price what Raptor parts are selling for some of the parts may shock you for what you could sell them for. You may be able to get more than 800.00. I have a utility and some parts are over a 1000.00 Raptors are big sellers. depending on what it would cost it might be worth fixing either way I would have it checked out before selling it.

1996 4x4 Timberwolf rearend width. Can someone with some knowledge of these machines answer this question for me please. Are all 4x4 timberwolves this narrow in the rearend? These tires are so close the right one actually rubs the muffler.  Thinking about seeing if there are any spacers out there for it. I need at least an inch more clearance.

Hi guys. I have a problem where the quad will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then it dies. On inspection the airbox has oil in it (quite a lot). The oil is pumping through the cylinder head breather hose. This problem first happened suddenly. I have since done the top end including, piston, gaskets, rings and valves. I have also done the carb (not that I thought that this was the problem). The compression seems normal. The only thing that I can think of, is that I did not grind the valves well enough. Anyone experienced this? If so, how did you fix it? Any other thoughts?

My friends KQ 300 starts fine and runs, as soon as you put it in gear and try to accelerate its bucks and farts like crazy, not moving... I cleaned carb and it worked good for 1 day... now back to same problem.... could it be such as a bent valve????

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!
