2004 SUZUKI LT-F400F Starter question

Is there a way to test the starter and/or the starter armature? The starter spins freely but won't engage.

Did you take it apart? Whats the difference in cost for getting a new starter vs rebuilding the old one? Can you test it like a car starter?

that's what i was thinking too mario... you can test the starter yourself and/or take it to napa or another automotive place where they can put a load on it and see whats wrong... could just be a bad bendix spring?

Napa tests your starter? None of the name part stores around me check stuff except batteries.

they used to in ontario, canadian tire, a big retail chain will test them too, they have auto parts and service at all their outlets, alot of the littler guys will do that too, that are chain type auto part retail...
