My Cat sounds like it is gasping for air at high rpm's. Idles great and runs strong to about midrange on the throttle and then sounds like it is choking out. Fresh plug, clean air filter, cleaned the jets, float is good. Runs better but not perfect without the airbox cover in place?????? Checked the "snorkle", all clear. Any ideas?

Does it have an aftermarket exhaust on it?

At what position of the throttle does it start gasping? 1/4 to 1/2 1/2 to 3/4 or 3/4 to full?

What is the elevation of your riding areas? Do you go from the low elevations to higher ones? ie +/- 2000'

Let me think about this one. It almost sounds like too much fuel so it was either jetted for a higher elevation or colder weather.

Stock exhaust, stock factory jets. Starts gasping around 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, closer to 3/4. I am essentially at sea level. I have had the quad for about 5 years, this just started happening when I fired it up over the weekend after it had sat since summer. Gave it the mini-tuneup, cleaned the jets and checked the float to try to resolve. I have run it with and without the air filter, no noticeable difference... but as soon as I put the airbox lid back on it becomes noticeably worse, even with no air filter in place. I agree that it seems like it is running too rich, almost like it wants to really open up more than usual if it could just pull more air. I am really baffled. Thanks for trying to help.

I have seem cases where the diaphragm is work or reinstalled incorrectly. Let me think about it while I am out in the garage this weekend, and I will have a chance to pull up your parts diagram.

On my 07 there is a vacuum line to the carb and if there was a pin hole or loose connection it would not pull enough gas into the carb.

I looks like the gas is gravity fed looking at the parts diagram. But there still may be a vacuum if you look at the nipple mid carb, not the one on the top for the gas. I looked at the engine breakdown and couldn't really find where it goes to. On the newer models it goes into the boot between the carb and the engine.

I was looking to buy a new ATV.
I was debating between Polaris sportsman 450 and Honda rancher.
      Polaris it a bit cheaper.
But can you tell me which one will have more demand on the used market? Which one will keep it's value better?

Let's say 3-5 years from now.

When I bought my atv.its missing the air filter.on the parts diagram.it shows the air filter cage separate.but in my air filter box.it looks like it has an air filter cage fastened to air filter box.do I need a air filter cage on top of piece in air box.

I recently picked up a  2000 warrior 350 and it doesn’t have the air filter box so I was thinking about using a clamp on filter directly on the carb.  Anyone know what I need to get or where I can find it? The one I ordered goes in the box and won’t fit directly on the carb.

Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years.
He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year.
I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days
But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing)
Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20%
I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle

So I picked up a 1995 Yamaha warrior a while ago and it ran decent with quite a bit of power, I was able to wheelie like nobody’s business, but I noticed that the air filter box lid had bunch of holes drilled in the top and hole in the side, also the air filter itself was serving no function and there was a huge rip in it. So I got a new air box and new filter and when I installed it, the quad lost all power and acted like it was cutting out for split seconds at full throttle. For reference I think it was running rich before because it would backfire a lot so I think it’s just restricting air flow, but how would I adjust to that because I tried leaning out the carb as much as I could but it didn’t seem to do anything unless I put the other airbox lid on with the drilled holes.
any help would be much appreciated
Also even when I put the old lid on, it seemed like just the new air filter gave it enough restriction that it still wouldnt run right
