Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and just recently inherited a 1990 Big Bear 4X4 semi-automatic. My son was riding it and the cover on the right side of engine blew out with a bunch of parts laying all over the ground. I did not ever find the cover. Anyway, I do have the Clymer book for this ATV, but it does not show a clear picture of how it all goes back together. What I recovered was one little spring and 4 weights/shoes, etc. From the looks of the parts that I found on the ground, it seems like it is a centrifugal clutch. Is that correct? I would love to ride it again, but need to know how to put it back together and what parts are missing.

Thanks

Ok, I got the clutch carrier that I needed and started to put it in the other day. I had to take off the R/S engine cover in order to install the new carrier. When I took off the cover, several pieces fell to the ground. Keep in mind, the entire clutch carrier blew right out of the R/S engine cover. So I suspected that there may be some loose part in there. I do not see any of these pieces in any of the diagrams. There are some pics of the R/S engine in the manual, but it is really unclear----smudgy ink). If I make pics available of the parts that fell out, can someone help me figure out how they go back? Or, even if someone refers me to a "clear" diagram of the R/S engine and the inside of the cover, that would be great too. It seems that the parts have something to do with how the R/S engine cover mounts and that little fork that's inside perhaps.

Thanks

Has anyone had a suzuki 230 quad lock the engine up?  Its a well maintained bike, it locked up when my son was riding it. Pulled the plug, it has connected with the piston. I'm thinking the con rod let go.  I don't have a service manual.  Does the engine need to come out to check further?

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

I recently read an article about restoring or at least improving the looks of faded and discolored plastic body parts. In the article it suggested using a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and paint thinner. You mix it up and apply it with a brush or rag to rub it in and remove the oxidation. I curious to find out if anyone has had experience with doing this and what was their short/long term results of doing so. I would hate to try it and find out that a few weeks/months down the road my plastic body parts self destruct.

I am new to this site. I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport I think. Is there a difference between quadsport and quadrunner?
