1997 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 - Smoking Bad

I have a 1997 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 it has a bad smoking problem the smoke on start up is a blue color and after it runs a while the smoke turns kind of blueish gray could this be the rings, the valves or something else, please help with any advice, P.S. there is also a little oil blowing out of the exhaust please help thanks.

could be just rings, could be just valves and/or guides, or all. try a compression test to narrow it down. if you have good compression, it could be just the valves or guides ... not sure how many lbs compression you should have, probably 130 anyway ... more than likely it is valves if it's blowing out the exhaust ...

Yes, definitely a compression test. Sounds like you are burning oil.

ok Thanks for all the input I will do a compression test and go from there, it seems to have good compression when I pull on the pull start rope as it has a lot of resistance and is very hard to pull, but thank you for all the advice and I will do a compression test to make sure I will let you know what I find, Have a Great day.
