Ok, all you guys/gals are good with this type of stuff.

I have a Reddy Heater 150,000 btu torpedo heater thats acting strange. It shuts off after about 5-8 minutes of run time. I re-tuned it last year, but now it's acting crazy. It burns fine until it shuts down. If I reset it right after the switch trips it will not fire!......It just blows out raw fuel. If I let it sit for a few minutes it will fire back up and run good for another five minutes or so then shuts down again. I've replaced the plug, cleaned the filter & nozzle, pump housing, checked all the lines for the pump & it all looks good. The photocell is clean & the fact that it shut's down when it doesn't fire back up tells me the photocell is functioning properly. The last thing I'm thinking is it possibly has some water in the fuel tank. It looks clean but here is my question.....can I simply mix some dry gas ( isopropyl alcohol) with the kerosene or should I use some type of diesel style fuel drier??? I don't want to blow something up. It really acts like it has moisture in the fuel but what do I use for "dry gas" in kerosene??? Thanks for any advice.

I run K-1 kerosene. Just wondering what type of "dry gas" I could run in it that won't kill it. I'd never add gasoline. The belly tank looks clean but it would be a pain in the butt to drain. A fuel additive suggestion is what I'm looking for......Just to rule out a moisture issue.

This one has no adjustment screw that I can find. It runs GREAT till it shuts down. It doesn't shoot flame past the outer shield. It's an awesome heater but just started acting up when I got it out of storage, that's why i'm suspecting moisture. After I rebuilt it last year it would run constant, quiet, not smelly, & it would heat me out of my 24'x24' un-insulated garage in about 10 minutes. Now it's just not running right......I guess I'll try some fuel addative & see if that makes a difference. Dunno what else to do @ this point. It's a pretty simple machine.

Update....I rebuilt the entire heater, new pressure line, fuel line, filter, nozzle is clean, new plug. I re-checked all the electrical connections. It runs OK but now I cant get it to build enough pressure to set the pump pressure. It should run @ 5 psi. , but I can only get around 3.8-4 on the guage. I'm thinking it's a worn rotor/vein assembly. I'm tired of working on this simple machine!!! :aargh: It's driving me insane!! Any tips to rigging the pump would be appreciated. I'm thinking of tightening the headspace tolerance by surface grinding the pump housing. :confused:

:aargh: Just put a new pump rotor in it & now it runs worse!!! I'm really getting pissed off @ this thing. I found the pump pressure adjustment & guage port. so all is good there. It just won't build enough pressure to operate properly. I'm @ a loss with this damn thing. It will NOT go above 4 psi. no matter what I do with the adjustment screw. All the lines are new, new plug, new filters, fresh fuel, new rotor and vains. The only thing I can think of now is a weak spring in the nozzle assembly......but I'm getting tired of throwing money @ this thing. Anybody have ideas with this dang thing, or experienced a similar failure? I'm quite certain the low pump pressure is the issue but don't know what else to do to fix it???????

:confused::eek:

      Hi All.  I introduced myself some weeks ago with my 2006 LT-F400F that needed a list of repairs including replacing the cracked generator cover.  It is back together as of last night and cranks up, idles and revs high pretty well.  Needs some fine tuning and stop backfiring at stop.
      The big issue is it will not go into gear.  I reassembled the insides with help from y’all’s posts.  The transfer selector moves from H-L-R, and the foot shifter moves thru the gears and finds neutral easily enough.  Before I tear it back open, the  transfer selector on top does not move as far as the repair manual says.  The diagram shows the shaft moving something like 40 degrees between L and H and 50+ degrees between L and R but it doesn’t move that far even though it finds the indent areas and moves well.
      Could this be the problem.  I aligned all the dots on the shifter gears inside and it appeared to not be binding anywhere.  I do hear the gears touching when I shift like they are trying to engage, but zero movement from the ARV
      It was somewhat difficult to tell whether all the parts are installed on each shaft.
      Are there better/bigger photos somewhere that would allow me to be confident I included all the washers and bushings, etc?  If I had any doubt on parts that were laying inside after the cover broke then I purchased replacements from online stores.
      TIA for any input or feedback!!  Pics are from when I first took the generator cover off.

      I rebuilt the top end on my 2007 Honda Trx500fe. It ran fine right after the rebuilt. But now when I try to crank it it blows Bach through the carburetor. I held my hand over the opening for the intake air and it blew gas back on my hand. Can figure out what happened all of a sudden. It was cranking and was able to ride it running through all the gears. Now can get it to crank just blowing gas back to the air filter. Need help again. Starting to think I should have walked away from this one.

      So I picked up a 1995 Yamaha warrior a while ago and it ran decent with quite a bit of power, I was able to wheelie like nobody’s business, but I noticed that the air filter box lid had bunch of holes drilled in the top and hole in the side, also the air filter itself was serving no function and there was a huge rip in it. So I got a new air box and new filter and when I installed it, the quad lost all power and acted like it was cutting out for split seconds at full throttle. For reference I think it was running rich before because it would backfire a lot so I think it’s just restricting air flow, but how would I adjust to that because I tried leaning out the carb as much as I could but it didn’t seem to do anything unless I put the other airbox lid on with the drilled holes.
      any help would be much appreciated
      Also even when I put the old lid on, it seemed like just the new air filter gave it enough restriction that it still wouldnt run right

      Ok guys, I am a glutton for punishment! I picked up this 01 2wd Rancher because the plastics looked good on the marketplace. It has been sitting in the guys back yard for 10 years. The original engine blew and they swapped in an electric shift 4x4 engine. 😒The engine is locked up and was full of water. The wiring is hacked where they tried to get it to run and the rear end needs new swingarm bearings where they left it laying on the ground in the woods for 10 years. Has anyone here ever did the engine swap? First thing is to straighten out the wiring and get the engine free to see if I can get it to crank over. I have swingarm bearings ordered and a new ignition switch. So hopefully I can at least roll it around soon. 🤣
