Hey guys,

Just got my new 500 HO a few months back and after a ride the other day there was major banging from the top end. Brought it to the dealer and they had a listen and said its coming from the top end. The mechanics hauled the engine out and had a look in and said that there was major scoring on the intake side of the cylinder and the piston was damaged causing "piston slap." The mechanics said they have never seen anything like this on a brand new quad. There is 400kms on my bike. The bike has never been drowned in water or any major incidents on it. Its basically lady driven. My 500 is under warranty for the fix but im trying to pin point what exactly when wrong to cause this. Upon further inspection of the bike, there was oil pooled up in the air box that mechanic said it could have been sucked up there from the bike being rolled over or being on a steep incline for too long. Which it never has.

Ive been reading around and people were saying that a faulty oil pump could be a issue. Is there any way to prove this? Or to test that in fact that it is broken. Is there any other thing that could cause a top end to go on a new quad?! I'm boggled here. I'm worried that it will happened again after the dealer fixes my problem and I'll have to pay out of my own pocket. Thanks in advance!

Just some friendly advice on new tires. Check with your ATV dealer.
There are so many aftermarket sites, Revco, Royal Distributing, Partzilla, and on and on. Even with their “ big sales”, my local Canam dealer’s REGULAR price beat the tire prices of the 3rd party sellers! People often assume the Dealership will cost them more, but I found this not to be true!

      Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue with my 2021 Polaris Sportsman 570 – the engine keeps stalling after running for about 10–15 minutes. I’ve checked the air filter, spark plug, and fuel lines, but can’t seem to find the root of the problem. It starts up just fine, but then loses power suddenly.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this model/year? Would appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips you’ve tried that worked. Thanks in advance for your help!

Just thought I would start a poll on this topic manly because I'm not a fan of belt drives. Just want to know which you prefer.

Hi All.  I introduced myself some weeks ago with my 2006 LT-F400F that needed a list of repairs including replacing the cracked generator cover.  It is back together as of last night and cranks up, idles and revs high pretty well.  Needs some fine tuning and stop backfiring at stop.
The big issue is it will not go into gear.  I reassembled the insides with help from y’all’s posts.  The transfer selector moves from H-L-R, and the foot shifter moves thru the gears and finds neutral easily enough.  Before I tear it back open, the  transfer selector on top does not move as far as the repair manual says.  The diagram shows the shaft moving something like 40 degrees between L and H and 50+ degrees between L and R but it doesn’t move that far even though it finds the indent areas and moves well.
Could this be the problem.  I aligned all the dots on the shifter gears inside and it appeared to not be binding anywhere.  I do hear the gears touching when I shift like they are trying to engage, but zero movement from the ARV
It was somewhat difficult to tell whether all the parts are installed on each shaft.
Are there better/bigger photos somewhere that would allow me to be confident I included all the washers and bushings, etc?  If I had any doubt on parts that were laying inside after the cover broke then I purchased replacements from online stores.
TIA for any input or feedback!!  Pics are from when I first took the generator cover off.
