Looking for a little help. I have an 89' Big Bear that DID run like a top. Always was garage kept. Recently, the neutral light began getting harder and harder to come on. I'd make sure it was in neutral, rock it a few times and boom, it would come on. Then it began getting harder and harder to get to come on until now, it won't come on at all. I changed the little switch at your left heel below the engine, changed the wire out that leads to the switch, etc., but still nothing. Not sure if this means anything but the master cylinder at your right hand is out and doesn't work at all. I recently adjusted the back brakes and did a little bit of clean up on it. I changed out the shaft CV boot which is why I had to re-adjust the back brakes. After all that is when the neutral light slowly started going out. Any help would be much appreciated. Is there a way to bypass the switch? Could it be something with the brakes or master cylinder? I appreciate the help.

No sir. When brake is applied it still wont' start. Used to be able to shift it into neutral, rock it back and forth a few times and the green neutral light would pop on. Slowly it got to where it just wouldn't come on at all. I've had the brake applied, the switch out, grounded and depressed, voltage check, etc., etc. and I cant get the little freakin' light to come on at all. Thank you for the manuals, I'll look through them.

that switch is activated by a detent on the shift drum (IIRC) the hand brake (on the left bar) is a safety over-ride allowing you to start it in gear. If neither one is letting the electric start operate then you could have a bad ground to the neutral light or a bad solenoid, or a bad starter, or the start switch is bad.....

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!
