  1. sounds like to me its sucking air when it gets hot the motor parts are shrinking and creating a gap or your coil is dieing off when hot weaking the spark it takes a thin wall 18mm socket to remove it becarefull or youll break it the gap is 24-26mm gap.

  2. the neddle or the float is stuck have it rebiult by someone that knows whats going on until the after ridding turn the gas off people dont know this while your bike is ridding around in the back of your truck or trailer your float is steady working because of bounceing causing gas to sloashing in the bowl and there for over filling it and its got to go somewhere into the clyders out the over flow i suggest turning off the gas run out the in the carb DO NOT ATTEMPT ON 2 STROKES and if to much fuel gets dumped into the clyders it can bend your rods.

  3. hey need some help with my friends 300ex.. he needs a new piston and new head.. his valves broke and hit the piston so its pretty much done.. if anyone knos were i can get parts or anything i will appreciate it

  4. i have some banshee parts and several freinds that stock parts as well it looks like your clcy, are pitted i would go with 20thousands over and new pistions average clcy, bore is $90. new pistions wisco are about $210. with rings and gaskets have your head magnafluced for cracks and warpage since your pistion was turned check your rods to make sure the rod hasnt twisted on the crank and check your intake boots arent dry rotted or the reeds arent broke email about your list of parts and i can locate in about to days deoending on my freinds work schedual.

  5. I just recently bought a 400ex 440 bore, wisco pistons, and a hotcam in it. Quad runs great, however, it's hard to get started. It has the stock starter on it, brand new battery, and we have eliminated that the starter cylinoid is bad. It will however crank over with a battery charger that is on 12v Start Engine selection. Why is it doing this? It roll starts no problem. Do you need a hotter starter with the 440 bore? Need help asap. Thanks.

    because you increased the compression on it but when you put in the hotcam you had to take out the compression release out so the hot cam could work properly to gain p0erformance that is something youll have to deal with mine does it also more in colder weather in warmer weather youn wont notice it.

    I have a 2000 honda EX and my quad has no juice. IT will start if i hook up a charger but not even to the battery im not sure what its called my postive connection leads to it. Its round and has another wire going into it maybe the ignition not to sure. The battery is a month old my freind hooked up the postive to negative and negative to positive the other day will that kill anything. Thats when the problem started. Ive also been riding it in the snow that day before he was an idiot and did that. It will also start if i roll it down the hill and dump the cluth. Please help me i am so lost on this. Thank you

    check ur in line fuse and another hiddin fuse attached or mounted to ur grab bar rail under ur seat requires a 30amp flat use.

  7. Is it possible to put a sport clutch on a 2007 Honda TRX 400EX? If so, is it expensive and will it be hard to do?

    I am wanting a bigger quad and then use the 400EX for guests, etc. and I wouldn't have to worry about someone screwing up the clutch.

    Both of my kids 2007 Honda TRX 250EX have them, which came from the factory that way.

    I would call my local dealer but they are rude and not helpful.

    most people dont know it but a cbr 600 clutches street bike will fit ur bike because they are the same except in fiber street are more agressive or go with drit diggers extremes or go all out for about $800. like i did for all hennson componits.

  8. Anyone have any input on what is the best full exhaust set up (header and muffler) for an 06' 400 EX? Looking to upgrade but there are many options with reviews that aren't very helpful. Also include info on what jet size i will be needing with the choosen exhaust. Looking at either a Pro Circuit or Yoshimura, but whatever anyone thinks, i'd appreciate the advice! Thanks!

    i use a trinty stage 5 dragg pipe cost is $460. all polished if not that use a fmf fullcore stage 4.

First off im new here so hello to everybody, second a friend of mine has a 2000 400 ex that i am thinking about getting, and it was smoking really bad so we tore it down and the cylinder looked fine but the exhaust valv:huh:e had about a 1/8 inch of something that looked like carbon buildup but was white on it, could this be from burning oil , do u think it needs valve seats or seals or maybe just a set of rings, it runs fine just smokes and uses about a quart of oil in 8 hrs, thanks guys

    if i was you i would have head cleaned and have new value seals and bonnetts changed dont go half assed.

  10. I was wondering if i need to collapse the timing chain tensioner, and if so how do i do this, i am trying to put my 00 400 ex back together after installing a new piston?

    on the tensor take out the phillps screw and the is a slot located in the hole witch will lock it in place will you insert the tesioner after bolt up turn the slot in the oppiste dircition to release.

  11. I just got my 00 400ex and I want to change the oil in it just to be on the safe side.. I found that there is 2 drain plugs one on the motor and one on the oil tank... But I can't figure out how to refill them? Is there 2 fill holes?

    theres only one drain at the bottom of motor and only filler located at the top of the tank fill slowly it holds ruffly a quart and 3/4.

  12. does bigger cams effect the relableity of his 400ex and will it keep up wit 450

    no they dont if you match them with ur motor if you run stock highcompression pistion go with a stage 2 hot cam but you must remove the compression release. i have a 400/ex 460 big bore mil crank stroker with a stage 3 but i can go to webb stage 5 using 114 octane this big can be seen o this web site.

  13. no need to yell. i cant find those anywhere not even on itp's website. douglas is coming out with some i ordered those since my local honda superstore couldnt find the itp's either lol its a pain in my a$$.

    go on line with scat/trac go with 10 21 8 paddle no more than 10 paddle dubble buff not used on hard drit or trail rides. on douglas blue lable. or go on line with wicked atv tell them opie sent you.

  14. i just purchased an 08 i like it alot in the power department but the handle takes some getting used to. anybody else have 1 and know of stuff i need to look out for? also what sand tires/rim combo would you guys go with for the 700? thanks in advance.

  15. is there a difference in the performance on a NGK vs. CHAMPION spark plug? it is on my 03 400 ex.

    to me there is a big differance i have 400/ex i use to sanddrag with i use ngk dpr8z. champions dont hold up under the heat produced by the 400/ex if you notice on longer rides your motor oil will get lower due to heat evaporation produced.
