  1. Its in good shape, not all scuffed up. Comes off a parts bike, worked when it last ran but I don’t want to guarantee that just yet. I have a 2005 Sportsman that I can plug it into to make sure the display is still functioning (not sure if the speedo would work on the newer generation? We’ll see I guess).
  2. It sounds stupid, but make sure the kill switch is in the RUN position before you spend money on anything. If it is, then just try to jump the started solenoid with a wrench to see if the starter turns. You’ll know if power is getting to the starter if the wrench sparks and flash welds. If the starter turns the engine over, then you have it narrowed down to either the kill switch or the solenoid. Both much cheaper than a starter.
  3. I have a 2003 700, similar problem. Mine was intermittent. Changed the ignition switch ($9 on ebay) and the problem went away.
