I am having the exact same problem with my 00 LTF500F. The only thing I changed was the spark plug, and the only thing possibly weird or odd about the primary/secondary system on mine is that I was using a totally dead, unrechargable battery in the quad with jumper cables to another battery. I am gonna put in a new battery and go back to the old plug and see what happens. Steve
