  1. yes i agree. everytime you here about a mishap with an atv, no helmet was worn and injured very badly with head trauma or dead. it's too bad. however, i do like riding without one in the summer but i am very cautious where i go and what i do... 2 summers ago i was riding without, a couple of us stopped on the trail to have a smoke. i was the last one to start my bike and the others left and got back on the trail. me, i thought i would take a shortcut down an innocent looking hill that had 2' tall grass. well, i hit a manhole that was about 20" out of the ground, hidden in the grass. i was catapulted over the machine and broke my colarbone and had a concussion. chris came back to look for me and i was doing that funky chicken dance on the ground. ever since you know i'm wearing my helmet reguardless .... damage to bike, destroyed the wheel bearing. thats it! skid plates didn't even have a bruise.
  2. it was fun just to watch and listen to the can-am. very well tuned machine. i think with all the gizmos roger had ordered for this, it came in at just over 18 thou .... now thats a big boy toy!
  3. yah, lil max was a real trooper that day, but he did tire out quick. i think he would do better now that he's a little older ...
  4. it looks like ontario to me with the coloured leaves. i bet the trees that still had them or when they started to change colour were breathtaking. fall time is always great on the bikes. were there any signs of deer there?
  5. from edmonton to here (closest city), it's all clear sailing. here there are 2 overpasses that has a road running straight beside them, then we had 2 2 lane bridges and now another 5 lane, side by side by side. they built another 2 overpasses north which they have made a road to accomadate the big loads ... this place here is just buzzing. like an ant hill. oil rich ....
  6. that day was average i think, about -20. but the sun peaked out now and again ... hahaha
  7. you have to travel pretty far and getting there takes a long time. the ice roads are fairly good so you can wind it out to save some time but you know your gas consumption is high. i'd hate to be stuck way out there. so yeah, eveyone has at least 1 jerry can they bring along.
  8. not sure of the semi auto, could be just the maual clutch foot shift with no lever to pull. i've only heard of full auto, and manual whether it be electric shift or foot shift.

  10. chris is good with his trike, only had a couple spills on it and it wasn't because of the trails really...
  11. that area here is awesome. there are 3 or 4 crossings like this. lots of fun!
  12. i think it was ash. i had hard maple, oak, ironwood, ash, hickory. i had 94 acres there, 30 was clear and the rest was wooded. even had a nice cedar patch
  13. my awesome lumberjack helper having a (root) beer break
  14. my good friend brian and his wife from ontario. best neighbor there ever was. a real saint!
  15. the mud here is unreal. sticky as .... wet, dry it crumbles into sand
  16. the only small prob i see maybe is you have independant suspension. other than that you should be ok. you have the weight and the ponies ...
  17. i think that is ash, you can cut it and burn same day, no creosote. i have one for rocks too, handlebars but only 1 wheel ... ahahaha
  18. i do my very best sir, that is correct ...
  19. maybe all you would have to do is keep on the snow, get rid of it as soon as it falls more or less, then it wouldn't be so hard on the machine. you just don't want to be pushing like a dozer ya know? in ontario the snow is wet and heavy, i used to be able to drop the blade halfway and skim the top away and go back and drop the blade on the ground and clear it. you have the same conditions where you are. if you do buy new, make sure you get a winch, and a warn winch. they are the best.
  20. i was working for a drywall company here. now i insulate mostly houses ... so now i have a company car, my own car... LOL
  21. it's possible i suppose. i'm not too up on the 250's. are you looking for new or used? used machines are plentiful and are inexpensive somewhat. always guys selling off cheap thru the winter months ... if you budget like 5-6 grand for new, you could get a hellofa machine for that used
  22. my little getaway from it all. wanted 2 garage doors where the windows are, but building inspector (jerk) didn't like my plan .... it was agricultual zoned and they made me have a height restriction on the garage, 50-75' away was a machine shed/barn on the neighbors property. go figure!
