  1. I have a ? too. If say I was able to purchase a new atv say a 450 i dont know Yamy, Honduh, Kiwi, Ding Dong Motors whatever. Would I be so amazed by the power difference? I have never ridden anything bigger than 400cc but I read alot of people who step up to a 450 blow the doors (nerf bars?) off of other quads. Is that just fish stories and bench racing or what?

I have driven 500cc and up 4x4s but thats not what im asking. Im only referring to sport quads

450s have a very good reputation as far as power goes!!

ya but it all depends on the mods and stuff..... i have never owned a 450 but i have drove them and those arent just tall tales u r hearin....... the yfz to me wasnt short of power but not my style...... the trx 450 i drove is the fastest 450 ive ever been on..... but never underestimate a 400ex because of size and all they r a one of a kind

  3. I will probably lose about the same top speed as the 14T because I am also stepping up to a 22" rear tire. I wanted the torque of a 14T but with the taller tire it would be like resorting back to the stock 15T. A bigger rear sprocket is out of the question as Im trying to gain ground clearance.

i see...... let me no the torque difference:yes: and if ya like it

  4. While the CRF450R and the TRX450R share the same displacement number, there are very few of the same components between the two engines. Initially, many people were disappointed because the first TRX450R was very weak compared to the CRF450R. Honda claims that it designed the TRX450R engine to produce more torque so that the engine was more suited for ATV purposes. In 2004 and 2005, the only interchangeable part between the ATV and motorcycle engines was the camshaft. In 2006, Honda overhauled the TRX450R engine to make it more similar to its motorcycle variant. This included a more aggressive cam profile, a larger bore with a shortened stroke, a new, short skirt piston and titanium rather than steel valves. In addition, Honda changed the carburetor from a 42 mm Keihin butterfly type to a 40 mm Keihin FCR. This increased the power from about 33 horsepower (25 kW) in the first generation to over 40 horsepower (30 kW) in the second. The first generation engine had a 10.5:1 compression ratio while the second generation had a 12:1 compression ratio.

wikipedia was the source... any help?

ya i had wondered because..... a buddy of mine had one with a crf 450r motor in it and i have never seen a trx tht is tht quick in torque and top speed.....i just wondered which engine is better in the trx body?

  5. I out ran a kazuma falcon 110 with my daughters e-ton 90 two stroke. The other week my friend came over with another buddy of his and we went riding during the ride the buddy was talking how he could keep up with me and thought his 07 Honda 400 or 4 something 2wd utility quad was as fast as my prairie 650. I hurt his feelings did I not only out run him I also climb a few hills in 2wd he couldn't make it 1/2 way up. His is one of those sideways motor shaft drive Hondas. Then I took down my friends grizz 600

it was prolly a 420..... a friend of mine has one he thought it would beat my 400ex lol:laugh:
