  1. A little lube and the plunger started to move and came out without a fight. My spare carb is from a 2002 machine with the same motor as my 2004. Carb kits seem to be different though so I ordered the 2004 kit and will practice on the 2002 carb before the correct kit gets here. I wish the ATV was home and not out in the woods.
  2. OK, I have a spare I can try to fix. I tried to edit the post but ended up with 2, sorry.
  3. OK, I have a spare I can fix. Getting the choke cable off the carb is my only issue in getting it off the machine. After unscrewing the plastic cable cover does the brass piece just unscrew to separate the cable from the carb?
  4. So I'm out in the woods using the ATV and I notice a gas smell. Turns out the gas was running out the nipple on the very bottom of the carb. I suspect the float must be stuck so I tap it a few times but the gas is still running out. It flooded the engine and killed it. Any bets on a few more taps freeing it up or will I need to pull it out? Thanks
  5. I disconnected the fan and put 12V to it and it started so I confirmed the fan worked. The sensor was next in line and is heat activated so it seemed that would be a bit more complicated to test. For less than $14.00 shipping included I got a new one and 20 minutes had installed it. Now the cooling fan is working as it should. In the picture the top one is the old one. Thanks for the reply's!
  6. In the past the fan would come on after 15-20 minutes of use and only after slow speed or hard use, it seemed to run pretty cool. Now I could plow snow for 20 minutes and the high temp light would come on but not the fan. I would let it sit for 45 minutes and finish my plowing. The fan would not turn on so I just use it for short times but now for cutting my firewood I need it to work properly. When I disconnected the fan connector and put 12 volts to and the fan came on strong. Thanks
  7. Pulled the connector apart an used a remote battery to power the fan directly as suggested.
  8. Finally got the snow plow off and was able to test the fan and it works.
  9. Is it simpler to remove the covers to work on this? I can see the connector to the fan but that is about it. I've never had one of these apart so it is a new adventure for me.
  10. Make and model are Arctic Cat 2004 500 BTX with the Suzuki motor. Kawiherder, aka Interceptor398 are from my sled site and collection and I have used them in more than a few places. Your reply is the starting place I was hoping for and I thank you for that!!
  11. It starts and runs Ok but after a while the temp gage lights up and the fan fails to start. Any suggestions on where to start looking would be helpful. Thanks

  13. The wiring harness was fixed and working fine. Now this machine has picked up a clicking noise when driving front or back. It is something in the drive train. Sometimes when shifting it will not catch the gear right away. Any thoughts?
  14. It turned out to be the connector for the key switch. It was easy to get at so he is off to the dealer. He thinks it might be a 2005 but is still not sure.
  15. LOL, that would be fine but it's a little hard to get it out of the woods.
  16. Like the title says it dies when turning left and it seems that all power quits as the headlight also go out. It belongs to my father in law he started it and it idles fine. Turn the handle bar to the left and all the power goes out. Turning right it's fine. Battery connections are fine but it was getting dark and hard to see. The year I am unsure of but maybe 2007. I will get a chance to see it in the daylight soon and check the wiring but any heads up from someone who has had this happen would be helpfull. Thanks
