I just installed a starter and front drive shaft seal in my bayou and now it has no compression. I did not see any compression related components on the left side of the bike. I had to pull stator cover to install starter. Anyone have any ideas? Do these bikes burn valves?? It was running before I replaced the starter.:aargh:

Since I have asked the question I opened up the stator cover again and operated the starter motor while inspecting and found the starter was turning but it would not turn the crankshaft. I found out that there is a starter clutch and it is probably faulty. $150.00 OUCH! The dealership says I need the big sprocket as well as the two parts to the clutch. If the large sprocket looks to be in good shape, is it necessary to purchase it? It would add another $60 to the price and I'm way over budget already. Any info would be greatly appreciated

if it's you tearing the bike down and replacing the parts, you have a 50/50 chance to see if the big sprocket really needed to be changed or not if you leave it. as far as no compression, it's usually valves or rings ... what did the compresion gauge say it was at when you tested it?

I operated the starter with the stator cover off just to see. I noticed that the starter works fine now but the chain was not turning the crankshaft fast enough or at all sometimes. That's how I determined the starter clutch was bad. Does the big gear freespin like the small gear does off the starter?

Good morning, I am new to the forum. I'm 75 years old and love getting ATVs back to usable condition. I particularly like the 2006-2009 Arctic Cat 250 Utility. I currently own 6. The 2006 I am working on only has reverse and low gear. The "drive shaft" in the transmission is completely stripped where the high gear would mesh. Has anyone on here replaced the shaft. I'm told I have to split the case. I was hoping that someone on here could let me know how hard it will be. I already have it stripped down to where the shaft coming in from the clutch side is the only thing left. I was hoping I could just remove the driven clutch and drive it out from there. Directions say different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.
