Confusion about my Kodiak model.

Recommended Posts

When I bought my ATV in 2008, in Montreal, Canada, it came as a 2008 Kodiak 400cc, model YFM4F

When I do a vin search, i get the below info. I though tI heard at one time that the models in Canada and US might have different names?

So when looking for parts which do i choose? Kodiak or Big Bear? It has a Kodiak emblem on the atv itself. :)

Thanks...

I used vindecoder.eu

As it was the only one that came back with full info. As for a photo at the moment this is all i can come up with...my buddy is standing on the green one its mine, and the blue one is the same model, we bought both at the same time. Not sure if it helps, i can look for better pics.

Well been lurking for a couple years, figured its time to say hey! Been riding in MN since the early 80's been on just about anything and everything with a motor. If you are from the area hit me up! Currently riding a 2018 Sportsman XP 1000, but thinking of going to a General or possibly a Maverick Trail.

The best ones are backed by the Yamaha ATV manufacturer, however there are plenty of aftermarket Yamaha ATV VIN Decoder websites on the web. I need help please. This is all new to myself & my husband. We have gotten 2 used fourwheelers so we can ride with our kids (kids have go carts). One of the 4wheelers is a 1998 Suzuki Quadrunner 500 4x4. It has rearend trouble.
We are having a difficult time finding new or used parts, & no luck with aftermarket parts.
Hoping someone here can help. We were told by Suzuki dealership that some Artic Cat parts will interchange, but he wasnt sure which ones & said there are companies that produce aftermarket parts, but wasn't any help there either.
Any help or information is greatly appreciated.... Thank you.

      Hi All,
I have a 2004 Yamaha Kodiak, which has taken me to many remote places and hauled lots of game.  I still love it after 16 years.
Lately when I go to start it using the starter, sometimes it clicks and kills the power in the display.  Lights don't work, nothing works and I end up having to unplug the battery, wait awhile, and replugging the battery ends up giving the power back.   Using the winch will sometimes kill the power as well.
Battery is new, all fuses are ok, I'm at a loss.  I can start it with the pull crank and it will work and so will the lights.
Any insights or advice would be appreciated!
