96 polaris explorer no crank

i have a 96 polaris explorer and it's ran great for years. This spring I pulled it out and now I can't get it to crank over. It gets fuel and a spark but it won't turnover. I've tried a new battery, and a lot of other things. At one time it backfired but other then that it won't start. Any ideas ?

How long did it sit for? Maybe drain and replace the gas?

Yea I drained the fuel before I stored it in December

Are you saying when you turn the key it does nothing? or it will turn over but not start?

I am a bit confused.

It turns over, even backfired once or twice but won’t start.

Have you tried giving it a shot of starting fluid before trying to start it?

Yes I even did a shot under the plug still won’t start. I’m not very familiar with two stroke engines

I would try doing a compression test. If it shows low then run a leak down test and see where you are losing your compression through. That would be the start. I suspect you are losing compression.

The service limit on your compression is 115 PSI.

Along with compression I would check spark by removing the plug and putting the lead back on, then hold the plug against a ground and crank it over.
