Honda TRX 200 984 - issue when riding

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just restart my old Honda TRX 200 1984 from my garage, I clean the carb but a new sparkplug and start it with  a car booster battery (battery was dead).  It start and i'm able to ride but sometime i'm just hearing a little "click" sound and when I heard that in same time the motor seems wanted to stop and immediattely after everything seems to work.

Does someone could let me know where my problem could be?  The Coil, the cdi....

Like @Smokey Boyer said, could be valves ticking. Is is getting hot? Change the oil and filter if you haven't already.

* Topic moved to Honda ATV forum and added Honda to the topic title.

Yes it is getting hot.... but i though it was normal.  Are you talking about the engine oil and the engine oil filter or should i check some other filter?

Yes, fresh oil makes a world of difference sometimes.

If changing oil does not work, probably a stuck valve.

Ok i'll change the oil!  Let you know the result.

Other thing related to my machine, since i clean the carb, when I start it idle speed seems good but when I put it in speed, my quad move foward alone slowly - i suspect my idle screw do you think it could be that?.

I bought a roughish Honda rancher TRX350TM3 and I am having trouble locating the vin number - I would like know year and specs as is it rough , it runs but has multiple little issues ( choke cable seems frozen , carb has sticky or ill adjusted float and leaks gas from bottom of carb , shut off valve needs new o-ring to stop leaking , ect)  just age and lack of maintenance issues , but I need to know what it is to get correct specs … I was told there would be a tag on front end of frame but I don't see one . Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Got a 04 Sportsman 500 that wasnt running- owner said it needed a stater and a new battery.  It ran rough (been sitting out in the weather for a while).  A friend and I started by adding a new battery and it would start barely with the choke and his hand over the air-filter.  I decided to install the new battery in the holder on the side.  we had it on the rack because the old on was still in the bike.  I tried to be nifty by turning the battery to put the terminals in an easier spot to get to, but forgot to reverse the cables too.  In a sentence, I reversed the positive and negative on the battery like a dummy.  When we discovered my mistake and corrected it, we turned on the bike, but the display did not light up and the key did not turn on the starter.  jumping the solenoid worked the starter, so we thought the solenoid just burned up when I reversed the pos and neg...  new solenoid and no difference.  what have I burned up?  Also, the shifter does not seem to do anything in the trans.  it slides back and forth like its stripped in the trans.  any help would be appreciated!!
I think the biggest issue right now is the electrical.
