My 400's a whopping 2000.....8 years old...in the world of racing, she's ancient...pretty much an antique...but I still give her hell :)

I would rather Spend 35 bucks for the kit Than 1000 dollars to have someone tear it down because one day it didnt oil while I was Riding....Every used POS that I have ever bought that had that Auto oiler Got plugged

Im not hating on anyone....Its just Frustrating that this thread was all about Modding the heck out of some Polaris only to find out its a Family Quad that cant be Modded:laugh:

I think I have at least everyone on this thread here beat on the age of the Rides..They are as old as some of you if not older:laugh::wink:

ok so i'm dying to know....what exactly do you ride and what year is it:rolleyes:

I got you beat! I have a 1981 Yamaha IT465. I bought it for 100 bucks with no compression, put 100 bucks to rebuild the top end. This bike can just about keep up with my CR500. This is a pic of my 99' CR500 and my 81' IT 465. I broke the front fender off right before the pic. That's why the IT doesn't have one. 3056.jpg

Handling Characteristics are like Apples and Oranges when you compare Trikes and Quads....That tire does just fine...with the Stocker Dunlop 732 on there,,,,Wet Sand would get shot out in front and then Whip back into my Face.....Not with this one though....Kinda gets Whipped out to the Side and then Back.....

hey guys my name is preston and i just joinned the fourm and so far i am glad i did so. that aside me and my frien jus aquired a 1985 polaris trail boss with a blown motor for $50 and we have a crazy plan for it.
we wanna take the existing frame ans strip it down to a rolling frame and then turn it into a go kart. Now the reason that we wish to do so is because we think its a moderatly easy way to build a Kart with both front and rear suspension.
i am wondering if anybody has tried this with similar quads or any input in general would be great.

Seems my ATC went from a semi-working bike, to a project. Originally a traded for it, on the assumption it worked. Then, it didn't. Started with the carb, didn't really know what I was doing, and had to buy a new one. Lesson learned. Then took apart the top end, and it turns out the piston / rings and all that was near brand new! SCORE. So, I cleaned the rust out of the gas tank, and was gonna put it back together. This is where I am at now. Cleaning out the rust, I discovered 6 pinholes through which gas was leaking. The pictures show the stripping of the paint, the sanding of the metal, and the J-B weld plugging up the holes. More to follow! Painting it this week. Any thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been working on a suspended kart project for use on 1/8-1/4 mile dirt tracks in the area. I know this question is going to open up a can of worms but I am going to ask any how, which ATV engine(s) should I bee looking at using for the power plant of this mini-racer? My original thought was to use a 400ex engine but I thought I would throw this out there for open discussion.
      Thanks

Sup guys? Been registered here for awhile but never posted. Well i sold the blaster in my username lol, but ill always keep my first bike. So i still got the LT. Its an 86 quad sport. Havent ridden it much since i started racing dirtbikes. But i took it out last weekend and the steering stem on it snapped! Im guessing this is pretty common because it happened when i went to start the bike.
But before i snapped that this thing smoked worse then a pothead. So i got a wiseco top end kit for it. Dropped the cylinder off at a machine shop so this will kinda be a build thread. So here are a few pics:

      Crack:

Do you think i could weld it? reinforce it too........
