Yamaha YFM225 Loud Exhaust

I have a Yamaha YFM225 which sounds really noisy exhaust wise.  It had no baffle so I bought and installed that but it seemed to make no difference.  There are no leaks from the manifold or exhaust but the damm thing just sounds  so loud !

If there are no leaks, its got to be the muffler. Is that an aftermarket muffler?

No, this is the stock exhaust.  It did not have the baffle in so that cost about £80! Did not seem to have any affect though.  Still sounds like a bloody tank!  I will have to take it off I think and re-fit when the weather gets warm enough to be outside!  Thanks for your reply.

Have you checked the compression ring where the exhaust bolts up to the engine?

Well nobody has said I can not link to a video I made on the noisy exhaust, so here it is if anyone has anything to add to what has already been said....

So, I replaced the exhaust gasket and it is MUCH better!

I replaced it with a copper one - I think the old is a different compound.

(By the way, when I find the problem on anything, I do try to post on forums as I am so fed up with seeing forum posts with a problem but no solution from the original poster!)  - I think it is rude to not show what the solution was as it helps no-one if there is no feedback on an issue!
