Here’s a pic of the adjuster screw, I’ve destroyed it trying to turn it. It moved some but now nothing. Here’s the oil also. I’ve always used standard oil, with no additives. No saying it’s wrong but never had problems before? Just all of the sudden now

The adjuster will sometimes get in a bind when you put the case back on too and cause odd pressure on the clutch plates.  As Frank said, I'd drain and refill with wet clutch approved oil as modern auto oils have so many friction modifiers that they'll make a clutch slip.  Especially a worn older centrifugal clutch.

Oh, and smoking now but wasn't before either has to be residual oil from being pulled apart and put back together or valves were damaged when the timing chain broke.  Did you do a compression test after getting it back together?  Curious if a valve is slightly bent.

Yes, valves seals and lapped the valves. Valves guides were ok. I believe I’m good to go now, I’ll let it sit over night before I add oil again, RTV the case...... Don’t bash, I know it’s frowned up on. And I’ll try again. The smoking did seem to clear up right before I pulled it back apart. I’m sure it was just residual.

Guys, I've got a 1999 Honda Foreman 450S.  It runs great, but smokes out the exhaust after startup until it warms up.  I'm thinking the valve seals are leaking.  I was wondering if there is a way to replace them without removing the head or if there's an oil additive that will recondition the rubber seals.  Any advice?

Just thought I would start a poll on this topic manly because I'm not a fan of belt drives. Just want to know which you prefer.

I recently got my hands on a free 2004 Recon that the owner had zero information on the machine or the history. Long story short, a little troubleshooting and research revealed i needed to replace the timing chain for it to stay running. when i opened the case, it the chain was so horribly stretched, that the tensioner pivot arm had play between it and the chain! I also found the oil pump chain totally disconnected from the sprocket due to being completely worn out. I tore the whole engine down and rebuilt it from the bottom up finding little things here and there that needed to be replaced. Upon inspecting the top end, i didn't find any bad/excessive play in the crank, rod bearings or wrist pin. Now the machine runs great, but even after 2x adjusting the valves, the chatter is way more than you'd expect from a honda normally. My neighbor is an auto mechanic by trade, and i asked him to take a listen. the look on his face when i started it and it was chattering like that was priceless! He mentioned that maybe the valves themselves might be wore out or stretched. my question here: what all can cause the excessive rattle up in the valve cover aside from valves being out of spec? Everything else seemed to be in decent condition as far as rockers and guides go. I am fairly new to small engine/ATV repairs, but am learning as a hobby and have a fair amount of knowledge with how to do some wrenching. Thanks!

Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years.
He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year.
I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days
But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing)
Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20%
I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle
