Not familiar with that model but most shocks have a cam sort of thing under the spring, on the shock. You turn the sleeve/cam thingy and it puts more reload on the spring.

If the shift lever is on the frame and with a cable to the engine, then check the foot lever for worn bushes, and the cable ends for play.

Normally on kickstart levers there's a detent and spring and ball to keep them tucked in, and nothing to hold them out, except friction from the spring and ball. It's usual to have to use your hand or foot to swing the lever in and out. The lever should be in two parts, one on the kickstart shaft coming out of the engine, and the actual lever you put your foot on. Take it apart where the lever swivels and check for a ball and spring in a drill hole.

Thanks Mech but the kick start lever on this quad isn't the two piece type you reference above. It's one solid piece and is supposed to be pushed out away from the engine slightly, staying in that position allowing you to put your foot on it and kick which starts the engine. I'm having the exact same problem as Joshua91673 where it won't stay in the outward position. Someone please help. TIA

Oh ok. It's not a model we ever got here..  I had a look at the spares though and it doesn't seem to have anything to hold it out, only in. The big spring returns it after it's been kicked and as far as I can see holds it right in.

That gear #3 and #5 with teeth shown missing, they may not actually have teeth missing because it's quite common to simplify gear diagrams by leaving most of the teeth off like that. If that is how they are though, then there's a chance the missing teeth are to allow the pedal to swing out before engaging, but then it would require something to hold the pedal back into the engine once you had finished with it, and in that case the pedal should hang out by default unless it's been clipped in. I doubt that's the case, and it's more likely that the recoil spring is meant to hold the pedal in when not being used, and for the operator to need to swing it out against the spring pressure.  That's how hondas with that system work.

Have you read an owners manual ?

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.

Hi all. I have a timberwolf 250 2nd that will not start.. I thought it was out of time bc the guy I got it from said it just quit on him. The tensioner had a nut welded to it and it was like2 teeth off. I installed new tensioner and chain and it still will not start. It has fire and it will not hit off brake cleaner. It has compression. Haven't put a gauge but I'm sure it will crank and run with what it has. I double checked my work and it's still in time. Spot on. Both valves move. I'm about to put a feeler gauge on them and I'll cone back but other than that any ideas?
