2000 LTF-300F how to tell if its an X/Y model vs K1/K2

Getting ready to test a stator and regulator on a 2000 LTF300. Only reads battery voltage when running. I see the parts manual says 2 different stators, one for X/Y models and one for K1/K2. How do i tell? My vin # is JSAAK43AXY2101941. Thanks in advance.

Anyone used the Caltric $80 one? OEM is $400+.

Yours is a K4.

Turns out the stator tests ok. Now I need to find the regulator location so I can trace wires and make sure no shorts before I order new regulator.

Look what I found !! The last "tech" who replaced the regulator missed this. I guess its why the new regulator never worked. Feels good to find the issue, but, dam, there is no room to work in there........

Wires nearly always give trouble at the ends, either broken from flexing where they go into something, or at the terminals..

It's a good idea to take all the body work off and grease all the bolts and screws so it comes off easily in the future. Taking the bodywork off doesn't take long if the bolts are all good, and it makes nearly every job easier. There aren't really many bolts that need undoing once you figure where to disconnect.
