1989 polaris trail boss 250 2x4 2 stroke cutting out

My 4 wheeler will run for 5 minutes, either idling or riding it, then just quit. let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, it'll start and go again for another 5 minutes then quit again. new top end, new carb. new fuel lines. i'm confused. almost like a vapor lock. i took the gas cap off, doesn't seem to be an issue with that. any ideas ?

It sounds like an electronic problem.. If you have a timing light, put that on and watch it flash as the engine stops. If the spark dies before the revs do, then the cdi or ignition coil is failing. If it starts to die out but the spark keeps flashing the timing light right down to the last couple or turns of the motor, then it won't be the ignition.

thank you Mech , i replaced the coil and it ran all day yesterday with no problems. i appreciate your help !

yep like others said, sound electrical to me, when electric stuff runs it heats up and will cut out due to resistance etc. then once cools will run fine until it gets hot again.
