I have a 1998 Quad that was running almost perfectly and it started to drain my battery while parked last year.  When Started this spring it idled fine but had little power to drive the bike. I changed the coil and the stator and it is still running exactly the same as it was before. Has anybody experienced this issue or have any advice where to proceed?  The only electrical parts left to change is the ignition switch and the CDI Box. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Your battery may be causing the problem. Is the electric start operating ?

You should check your charging system is operating correctly. Is it charging and regulating ?

An easy test to see if the charging system is causing the problem is to turn the headlights on and see if it will rev a little higher before it plays up. If turning the headlight on makes a difference, then it's your battery or charging.

battery is new so that is ok. It used to run better/stronger when I turned on the lights but now it runs the same no matter which selection the key is on. Will check the charging system further with my voltmeter and see what I get.

I removed the voltage regulator/rectifier today and it appeared to have a spot on the back that melted and might have been shorting out.  I have a new regulator on order so hopefully that will fix the problem.

I changed the voltage regulator/recitfier and the quad ran the same. The only thing I did not not change was the CDI.  I received the new CDI in the mail today. Installed it and it ran PERFECT.  Changing everything in the process was a pain in the rear but now I have all new electronics and the bike should last for another 20 years. 🙂

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

      I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4
I rode the other day for 30-45 min. Switched it off and now it is completely dead..
battery is fully charged, fuses are good . WILL NOT TURN OVER ,
headlights won't turn on , No neutral, reverse or oil temp lights . Electrically it is completely dead !!! I replaced the key switch and CDI box , STILL NOTHING.
I bypassed the neutral safety switch and grounded it to the battery and still nothing !! I used a jumper wire on the starter Solenoid , the motor will turn over but not start . I even bypassed both fuses and straight wired it to see if I could get a neutral light or headlights still nothing . What could it be ?
