Hi. I am new here.

I picked up a Honda TRX300FW last year. I traded a horse trailer for it.

I enjoy it but one thing if I may ask, it seems to overheat and shuts down.

What causes that?

Thanks

We need the year...

Someone might know of a common cause on that model and year etc, but if we are to diagnose it, we need more detailed descriptions.

Have you read the owners manual, or a workshop manual ? You might spot the answer..

Have you tried giving it a service.. spark-plug, air-filter, valve adjustment, idle speed and mixture, fuel filter and vacuum hoses. It's always recommended to check the service and hose conditions etc.

And, when you say it overheats and shuts down, how sure are you about those two things being linked ?

It could be that some electronic part is overheating, or the engine might be getting hot and running lean at idle, or perhaps, getting a tight valve, or, perhaps the fuel tank vent isn't clear and it's not heat related at all.

Describe how it "shuts down", is is instant or does it come stuttering to a stop, does it restart immediately, after five minutes, after an hour or more ? Does it start easy from cold, and hot ?

Hope that doesn't sound harsh, but we can send a lot of money doing things and replacing parts that aren't needed if we start guessing..

Both, there are forums for each.

Thank-you sir. Unfortunetly, the Kawasaki SxS forum is full of cobwebs 😞  Not much going on. Did I buy the wrong machine LOL

I recently bought a 87 TRX 250 not running of course, the owner had a brand new Key Switch on it.
I think it is the wrong one or wrong wire colors as the colors dont match up with wiring diagram i downloaded for it.
anyone have a pic of their ign switch wires where they connect with the wire colors for that model? I ended up leaving the black/w stripe and
green wire disconnected in order to hot wire it for other testing but would like to know as the colors dont match diagram.

First post here need some help/advice. I bought a 2001 king quad 300, vin number JSAAK43A212111871. I have been trying to do some basic maintenance as it runs but doesn't idle all that well . I want to take out and clean/repair the  carb but when looking for parts it ask for model X Y K1 K2. How do I know which model I have? I have tried some vin decoders but they haven't told me. If anyone could recommend a carb rebuild kit for my quad Id appreciate it. Also any tips on tracking down an owners manual?

Well while I was waiting for new parts for the choke, I decided to adjust the clutch. When I removed the lock nut, I found the guy I bought it from or someone else had stripped the threads on the adjustment rod. I couldn’t get the adjustment rod to turn without putting a pair of channel locks on the screw driver, this was telling me something was wrong. So now the rod pushes in and out and spins freely too freely. So guess I’ll have to take the clutch housing off to see what’s going on and replace the adjustment rod, it’s threads are beyond repair, and there is something going on with the adjustment rod. If there’s another way please let me know. The further I go the worse it gets. Thanks for any help.
