Have a 2004 sportsman 500 HO , was working fine, decided to attach a trickle charger(the correct way) onto a newer battery, after a couple of weeks went to start it and no power to speedometer nor would start, but could turn lights on from switches. I put battery charger on and said fully charged. Disconnected positive led from battery and reconnected them, seemed to correct problem, ran the machine for a while then shut it off, and same problem started again,(did not disconnect battery again, but charger said full and lights would work)Any thoughts on where I should go from here?

Well I went back to it and turned key on, everything worked fine, before I did anything, thanks for all the help where to start, If it happens again , I will check (dam gremlins :)

That's what makes me suspect a loose or corroded connection. Turning on the power can  make a momentary surge in power that can connect through a little corrosion, and movement can  make a loose connection make contact when  previous movement made it lose.  I'd bet more on a loose connection or even an incomplete break in the wire where the ends are close together and a little movement makes connection. It's possible in the ignition switch too if a little corrosion in there .. Next time it doesn't want to  turn  over,  try turning the ignition switch on and off a few times to see it that makes it work.  Electrical gremlins that cause intermittents are the most evil. It's much easier finding a complete failure / disconnection.

Thanks for all the help, as it turns out you guys were right with loose corroded connection it was in the handlebar light stop/kill switch , that was replaced and now is working fine, aggravating😡 with that just going bad as the only thing that was used since working was that trickle charger . Thanks again for all the help suggestions.

2022 Sector 550, 414 miles on it and the gas gauge reads empty.  I topped off the gas and it didn't change.
There is no fuse that I could find.  No access at the gauge cluster.
Wiring on the top of the tank looks good, properly connected.
Could the sending unit in the tank be stuck or broken?
Has anybody removed the tank lid?  Any tricks?
      Any other ideas?
      Thanks for any help,
      Clyde

I have a 2016 Arctic Cat 500 and recently noticed some oil leaking on the engine block to the right of the oil filter. It's near two metal lines going in and out of the engine block. I think one of the lines is called an engine oil line. I have a photo I'm going to try and attach. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to start tearing into the engine if I don't have to. I think maybe a gasket or something blew around one of these lines. The ATV runs fine otherwise. Doesn't overheat or anything.

Hello, what is the best method for installing bearings into their race? I've set one in place and tapped it down until it was metal on metal. Is that sufficient? Surely it's not supposed to go into the race until flush? Also. does the coil spring on the seal go into carrier bearing housing not facing out? Thanks! 🙂 Seal goes in until flush correct?
