Yes, I’m a Newbie to this forum, (so be kind… lol).  I’ve owned my ‘03 250 4x4 for 2 years… had to do a top end rebuild when first acquired.  I’ve also had to adjust the valves twice already and they need adjusting again.  I only ride periodically because the ATV is at a vacation home and not used year round.  My question:  Is it normal to have to adjust the valves every year?  I recently adjusted the valves this past summer and now the compression is 35psi (with no start).  I just started riding off road and am “self teaching” repairs from YouTube.  Any advice is greatly appreciated!

No, valves should not need adjusting every year. The most common reason they need readjusting is because they weren't set to the right setting to start with.

If you are adjusting them with feeler gauges you need to be sure there is no wear on the valve end or the rocker that's upsetting the measurement. It might be better to use a dial gauge that measures in thou, or calculate how much of a turn it will take of the screw to give the right gap, and then back the screw out from zero gap to get the required gap. It's important that you end up with as much clearance as possible, without noise, hot or cold.

Some old bikes with worn rockers and valves need a bit of trial and error to get them adjusted and stable. The apparent gap isn't always the only play. Sometimes we need them to have a slightly bigger than recommended gap, and sometimes slightly less. First up check the gap cold and then hot and see whether they gain or loose clearance when they warm up. Then factor that in as you are calculating/adjusting the clearance.  Always start with a little too much gap, and then if they are noisy, reduce it till they are just quiet hot and cold and then they should be stable.

Did a top end rebuild, honed .010 over, new piston, rings, valve seals, etc. When i re assembled i only had like 30 psi of compression but then after it sat all night i now it seems to have gained some somehow, there is much more resistance pulling it over and i even got it to fire for a few pops. Issue i got is that it makes a loud squeak noise through the intake i believe (goes away when throttled so something with carb area) and it seems to not want to run well. I took head cover back off and timing seems fine so im not sure if something is sticky and that's why i got some change over time or maybe the valve lash is messed up after doing all this, i did get another cam for it but i wouldnt think it would make enough difference to need to re lash. Any insight on next step would be appreciated, i will be looking up how to do lash on these because it is a very weird angle to slip a feeler gauge in.
Actually cam is slightly off now that i look at the picture, thought it was good while looking in person. Hmm.

So I decided to pick up a small trailer if I could get one for the right price.  I found this one for a few hundred bucks on Craig’s list.  It is  a galvanized trailer which is exactly what I was looking for. The wood was shot and needed some minor repairs which I could care less about as long as the chassis was good.
I striped it down and put a new deck on. I had some vinyl realtree graphics that I had laying around so I added them to the fenders which I think worked out well. Very happy with this little guy.
I'm having the iron workers at my jobmake me up a few lightweight side rails that will have a 22 degree bend in them to accommodate the tires that slightly hang over the edge and will incorporate some tie down points as well.

Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum.
I have been riding quads for the last 20 years, however my quads are extremely old and outdated, all three are about 20 years old LOL.
I have been looking at upgrading, but need your input.
I've narrowed it down to the Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 S or the Honda FourTrax Foreman 4x4 EPS
      What do you guys think?
