Ok here goes the book Im about to write.

I bought a 02 raptor 660 and the rear end was squeaking very bad. I took out the rear axle and noticed that the bearings in the rear are all tore up, there are only about 10 balls rolling around throughout the whole casing. Yes, you are right they are not in the bearing housing but in the center. I hear a lot about carrier bearings and Im wondering if the bearings that I am replacing are the carrier bearings or if there in another inside the housing because there is a small pipe inside the housing. The balls have wedged in the center where that pipe is and made grooves in it. Will this be OK to just replace the bearings and seals and ignore the groves on the inside around the pipe? Also, does anyone have any advice on how to pull these bearings and seals out of this because it is pretty bad, there was not even the center metal left on the bearings.

get a long straigh screw driver and a hammer and hit the inside of the carrier where the old bearing and carrier meat. hit it then move around and hit it again untill it comes out. the seal, just pry it out on the outside.

You rock! That worked.

To put them back in do I have to do anything special? Grease it on the way in? I suppose just tap it lightly to get it in. Then the seal? Just tap it in? Anything need to go in the seal?

Now I need to figure out if I can use this thing still. What is the pipe inside the housing? Does it matter if the edge of it is all messed up as long as the middle part where it touches the housing is ok?

yep just tap the bearing all the way in, same with the seal. You might need a little grease or oil to help yua. nothing needs to go in the seal.

As far as that tube goes it's a spacer,i would grind the burrs of off it so it dont tear up the bearing.

tap tap tap I did. I slightly sanded all the rust from all parts and put a coat of grease everywhere. Thanks for all the help. You guys always make these jobs easy therefore keeping it cheap for me to have my toys.

THANKS!!!!!!!!

I recently purchased a raptor 80 for my grandson for  christmas. I am trying to make sure it is running properly. i have rebuilt the carb and adjusted the carb idle then the mixture to middle of where it runs rough and it runs great for about a min or 2. then it stalls out. I can usually choke it and it will start so i feel it is lacking fuel. the fuel shutoff valve has been changed and i checked it for good fuel flow.  any ideas of what to check next. I am planning to vfy fuel float height tomorrow. I visually checked it by turning carb upside down when i had it apart and it looked level. any ideas are appreciated.

      Thanks.

I got a 2005 350 Raptor Special Edition and I'm dealing with a no start issue; the weirdest thing is when I'm cranking it fires and slows down showing signs of pre firing, smoke shoots out the carburetor every time it sparks. every electrical part (CDI, Rectifier, Stator, Coil) has been swapped out from previous owner, the top end of the engines all new and I cleaned the carb out, anyone got any ideas or similar problems, also is it possible to have a bad spark timing

The family has two quads and have been asking where to ride around here- we are about 70 miles north of spokane and looking for places that are nice to go visit for beginners.
We have a 2003 Polaris sportsman, and a 2004 Artic Cat 2-up (I forget the size)

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Hi. I just bought an lt230 1993.  Ive started buying parts for a full rebuild.  But somehow beskepedal has been removed and pegs welded to where They are supposed to be screwed.    I was wondering if anyone have one and Could measure how far out the pegs are.  Like the peg the brake is put on and then peg outside of it.  And the one lower down.  So i can recreate them.
