After I read read this I had to register so I could comment. I guess the have to approve my comment before its posted. If you do decide to post a comment, please keep it clean and intelligent. The first one or two replies kinda make us look like idiots. Especially jtusk's reply. LOL. http://blog.oregonlive.com/oregonianatv/20...ppen_why_a.html Heres more. OregonLive.com: ATV I guess it pisses me off when people who dont even ride are suddenly ATV experts. The way they described DuneFest last year kinda got to me. "The wildest ATV party of the year"? I was there. It wasnt wild. There were thousands of people there and I only saw one or two incidents in the 5 days I was there. The ATV industry and their poor design? Give me a break. We all know there is a risk of injury when riding. We choose to take that risk. How many members here have been hurt on your quad or at least had an accident? Probably most of you guys at one time or another. Now, how many of you would blame it on the quad? Poor design? LOL. I know my accidents (and there have only been a small handful out of the hundreds of times I been riding) were due to Mikey error not Honda's "Poor design". We have to take a stand guys. Any of you here in the Portland area who have been watching the news know we have been getting slammed the last couple days after a recent ATV fatality. Not sure about the details on that one. I think some woman (my condolances to her family) was riding sideways on a hill with a passenger? And it rolled? Imagine that. Yeah, the engineers at Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, etc better hurry up and get workin on that one.

I guess they should also stop making cars, trucks, guns, bicycles, skateboards, etc.

They all have killed people at one time or another.

Give me a break. ATVs can be dangerous, as most things in life have a risk. It's a choice...we choose to ride!

It's sad that we can no longer find news... it has to be swayed by some idiot expert who just happens to have an opinion and the means to spread it as if the opinion, not the news, was the news. That's all I got out of the article. Congrats to Mr. Jeff Manning who hopefully furthered his career with idiotic reporting. Bravo.

It is nice to see some of the comments bashing the article on the site.... but then there are those that act as if "only I knew this before." Come on now. Seriously.

      Background,
This winter (Dec.) I was plowing and everything just died, just quit.  No lights, no pull start, No nothing.  I've had this problem before and I changed the voltage reg and it ran fine for over a year. Then this.  So I changed it again, thinking this was the same problem.  Tried to start it and a small pin hole in the CDI appeared with electrical smoke.
Months go by and I finally decide to just replace parts (I'm Horrible at electrical issues).  I changed the stator, new CDI, new Voltage reg, new starter solenoid, tested the starter (prefect), charged the battery.
Went to start it and the solenoid rapidly clicked.  All the dash lights on, headlights work.  Pull stared it and it fired right up no issues.  Looked into the rapidly clicking starter solenoid and it was not enough juice in the battery.  Took the battery completely out and hooked up a jump box to it turned the key, light on, everything looks good.  Pushed the starter button and it fired right up ran great.  Turned it off to test it again, Turned the key and nothing.  No dash lights nothing.  Took the jump box off and pulled started it.  Started it right up.  Re-hooked the jump box, still nothing.
      Any Ideas?

I have replaced the cracked stator cover on my non-running 2006 LT-F400F that I purchased recently, checked all the shafts vs the service manual and pics and advice here.  I replaced missing gears, bushings and washers, made sure that truth marks were all aligned properly, that the shift cam springs felt like they returned properly, etc.  IAfter installing the new stator cover I checked the transfer lever for proper movement from L-H-R and then cranked it up.  Happily, it runs and changes gears well in L,  but it will not shift into H or R for anything.  I have opened it back up and am going back through it looking for the missing puzzle piece(s) but how can I best check that I have everything right this time before buttoning it back up?

So I decided to pick up a small trailer if I could get one for the right price.  I found this one for a few hundred bucks on Craig’s list.  It is  a galvanized trailer which is exactly what I was looking for. The wood was shot and needed some minor repairs which I could care less about as long as the chassis was good.
I striped it down and put a new deck on. I had some vinyl realtree graphics that I had laying around so I added them to the fenders which I think worked out well. Very happy with this little guy.
I'm having the iron workers at my jobmake me up a few lightweight side rails that will have a 22 degree bend in them to accommodate the tires that slightly hang over the edge and will incorporate some tie down points as well.
