Will not start

2000 Suzuki will not fire. Fresh fuel, new plug, has 170 pounds of compression, super hot blue spark, won't even fire if you put fuel directly into the spark plug hole. Carburetor has been cleaned. Any ideas? Thank you...

Well a plug can fire just fine out of the engine, but then not fire once there is compression, so I'd try a second new plug. Sometimes, just very rarely, we get a dud plug, but also, if a plug gets stale fuel on it, it can get fouled in just a few cranks and near starts.

Has it been running fine and just quit or is it new to you or have you seen it run before.

I would test coil first. Simple ohm/impedance check.

 

EDIT: Also check kill and key switches. Continuity test,

Yes it has been running fine, shut it off one day, and would not start the next day.  If you read my first post I have super good spark, hot blue spark that will jump 3/4 of an inch so I believe my coil and key switch to be ok and my kill switch must also be ok.  Putting fuel directly into the cylinder it won't do anything, won't even backfire.  Even tried another new plug.  I appreciate everyone's help.

Low enough compression, or the ignition timing being far enough out can let them ignite the fuel without a sound or kick, and burn the plug almost dry, but not start. Try starting it and then pull the plug and check if it's wet, or perhaps, only wet on the metal part, or really completely dry..

And.. Check the cam timing for signs it's jumped the cam chain, or broken the crank key putting the firing timing out..

This may be silly but have you checked all fuses, and battery? Just a thought. I'm having a similar issue with an Arctic Cat. When you find the issue, please let us know what it was. It may help somebody else out.

if youre not even getting a fart with fuel directly in the cylinder its likely ignition, checked the timing / coil etc?
