Replacing Tires on ATV

were you able to wire Brush the Lip of the rim to remove any Rust ,Dirt etc.  before airing it up ??

The rim is clean . had some sand imbedded  where he shoved sideways ptobably ?

No.  Thinking about getting some Bead seal.   The tire is fairly new ; really about 5 YO.  It is very stiff and hard!

Great idea for a bead buster!

The tire is still holding air so i put it on the machine. Got the rim repainted.

This is my duckhead attachment very good addition to the tire changer.

there was a slight amunt of sand around the two  leak areas. I am going to use some "Slime" tire seal to cote area and reinflate.

That should do it to get it to Inflate!

That's good to know!  I figure more experience will make me less anxious.  I want to pick up a digital tire inflator for my compressor, and I think that would also give me more peace of mind.

Used slime around rim and strap on tire. It inflated ..poped at 25 psi and no leaky bubbles   ...Ta Da

tire was at temp here in FLa it has been in 70's.

After tightening strap, I beat the tire with a 2 lb hammer..  I don't know if that helped before inflating it; however, it made me feel better.

The bead seal is what sticks around the bead of the tire it has metal reinforcement strands when airing it up they get pushed up to a raised area and onto the sealing surface. You see here right next to the outer edge of the rim is the raised area that the metal reinforcement bands get pushed onto. Old tires are harder to work with but they will give, the problem i had when i had to drive the truck over the tire is the tire would give but the bead with the metal reinforcement rings would not let go. I have never used slime for a bead sealer but should work great. Good job! Glad to see others having fun also. A bit of satisfaction in doing it yourself.

Never thought about using slime as a sealer for the bead. Ill have to remember that.

A can of tire rim seal was $14!   I was being cheap. But the rim was in almost like new condition.   I Just checked ... It looked  up and hard this morning.
