Hi Guys,

We've just removed a Gates belt from a cforce 1000 touring and it looks like an egg shape and we leave it on the side for about 1 week and still didn't got like the normal oval shape, any thoughts on this? Do you think it's normal?20260218_155744.thumb.jpg.452a43fb79398b7bcd0ccff70ef5da24.jpg

The internet cited 'Egg shaped belts" as a clear sign of pending failure due to heat, too much tension.  I have seen a lot of industrial belt failures on variable speed drives, Varidrive is the most common industrial drive ( electricians get called on everything and have to prove it was not an electrical failure but was a Mechanical failure).  Varidrive uses the same/similar mechanical sheave technology as CTV's.   VariDrive belts will egg shape but more commonly distort and not lay flat because one side is longer than the other,  edge wear , cord showing , belt has a dome in it.   Some if not all CTV require high heat belts .

Inspect sheave for groves ...wear.

Hope that helps

That doesnt concern me sitting on pulleys for years it will conform to that shape just inspect it for cracks and fraying. Im assuming the pulleys are moving correctly and not gunked up you might clean them up while replacing the belt.

On my  Mr Alawys Ready, Yamaha 700, I can run the cvt through its paces without the belt housing covers.  That good  to see if he is up to performance and ready to ride.

Maybe someone has the answer to correct a long cranking but did start after maybe 10 seconds?
Temp was mid 70's, with ATV not run for maybe a month but on battery maintainer with full bat charge noted.  The atv started, but then died a couple times after repeated attempts.  But when run awhile everything was ok.  Although when starting now I do hear the fuel pump humming but seems to take a few ,"long" seconds before full prime pressure.
Is this typical of a failing fuel pump?
I've priced a replacement fuel pump on eBay for less than $40 so am tempted to simply replace it for good PM.  Just had all covers off so looks really easy to replace.
      Any ideas?

What are everyone's thoughts on the CFmoto Brand ATV? I can get everything I want for a fraction of what these big brand name wheelers are charging. TIA for your input. Please let's keep this nice and clean Peep's

Just thought I would start a poll on this topic manly because I'm not a fan of belt drives. Just want to know which you prefer.

The clutch engagement on my 2021 cforce 400s was approx 2700 RPM, very abrupt/not smooth.   I obtained a "kit" from RNG consisting of a blue painted spring (spring force unknown) with 12 gram weights, as measured on my postal scale.  Installation was easy; 18 mm and 30 mm (not 32 mm as seen on other writings) impact sockets for clutch housing removal.  The resultant clutch engagement was still up to approx 2500 and very abupt/not smooth.
The original spring was labeled p/n 0951-1021 (specs for spring force 300/1600) with 18 gram weights.
I called RNG who told me the kit should work fine for my ATV, but that wasn't the case as I found.
The RNG spring was slightly longer than the stock spring, but felt slightly easier at initial downward force but had more resistance than stock as I continued to push down.  RNG would not tell me what the spring force was.
I then tested the clutch with the RNG spring and the OEM 18 gram weights with the resultant engagement RPM of about 2050 RPM, a little smoother engagement but still not good.
I am really struggling to get any answers on the best combination of spring / weights to achieve a smooth engagement of maybe 1800 RPM.  Note; idle RPM is approx. 1600.
I have searched all the forums and cannot find good information, and RNG appears to be not willing to share information.  What gives here?  Anyone with experience to share?
