Ive been working on a 93 Bayou and I need some help. You can start it just fine when its cold. But if you run it for less than 30 seconds then it will not restart by using the electric starter. It will turnover but not fire. But you can drift start it for less than 2 feet and it will run just fine. It runs just fine, but has that starting problem. Can you offer any advice?

Well it has fire when you use the start button but the thing wont start unless you drift start it and the starter works fine! I think something must be pullin some fire from the coil or something? i checked the pickup coil and it test right and i have spark on the plug when i use the start buttom but has to be drift started to work

Starter is working fine, dont think its a short.

After swapping parts with a running lakota, and by checking around with the voltmeter, we think it is the pick-up coil.

It has gotten to the point to where it will not run now. Which helps in diagnosing it. Ordered a pickup coil the other day. Hopefully that will fix it.

I finally got around to working on the TRX, this has been an ongoing problem with this machine. This is a machine that we keep on my Fathers property, i dont see it that often, my brother haad it professionally repaired last year and year before same problem, the new starter gears and bypass gears last about a year and the machine is not used that often, he said he was done with it , so i thought i should go take a look. Sure enough the gears were all malled again.

IMG_4910.mov   There is some slack in there but most is taken up by the gear cover,if anyone with history with these machines has had the same problem, let me know your findings. Where i am now im looking for finding replacement honda gears on Ebay and try those. I suspect the original was replaced with aftermarket gears years ago and they just worse quality as the years go by.

I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
Also , I have a mystery bolt That I cannot remember where it goes. M6x 70 or so.  Hex head with a flat washer.I will try to attach a pic.
Pic is no go for now....Cox issue I will try again later
      TIA

My starter seemed to be "dragging" for a few weeks.  I thought my battery was going bad.  Bought a new battery, charged it fully, and still no change.  Relay clicks and starter MIGHT, reluctantly, turn engine slowly one or two revolutions.  Somebody (Mech?) please point me in the right direction...what connections/wires have come loose?

      Hello Folks

Have a Kawasaki Bayou 220, called the KLF 220 in my neck of the woods. I have had some fun getting to run nicely and eventually found a chap who sorted it all out for me. Something about 80-year-old bike specialists that make all the difference.
Anyrate now that she is running, I want to clean up or replace the spring suspension. so to my questions -
[1] has anyone changed/upgraded the spring suspension? if yes to what?
[2] The thought crossed my mind to split the spring system and change the actual springs for something firmer and give them some love while at it.. Has anyone split apart the springs, if so how does one go about separating the springs from the shafts?
      Comments appreciated.
