I was looking into learning how to jet a carb since it seems to be a very important part of the atv world! Found a few good pages  about jetting and have a question. How would I increase the jet size on a pilot or a main jet? Would I have to buy new jets or is there a certain procedure to do so on the stock jets? Thanks.

P.s: try to lean any replies towards a beginners point of view

You can drill jets out to make the orifices bigger, but generally, you just remove the old jets and install new ones. Obviously, there is no way to make jets smaller, so the only option for smaller jets is to change them. Changing jets is very simple, the main jet can be accessed through the drain bolt in the bottom of the float bowl, it just unscrews from the carb and you screw the new jet in. To get to the pilot jet, you have to remove the float bowl, the pilot jet sits just in front of the main jet. The needle is accessed fromt the top of the carb, the needle sits in the slide valve or piston valve, depending on what type of carb you are dealing with. A slide valve is manually moved up by a mechanical connection to the throttle, it controls both air flow and needle position, a piston valve controls only the needle position, as it moves up and down in reaction to airflow through the carb, in this type of carb, the airflow is controlled by a butterfly valve. In most slide valve carbs, there are grooves at the top of the needle, where an e-clip sits, moving this clip up on the needle for a leaner setting, down on the needle for a richer setting. In most piston valve carbs, the needle position generally fixed, but can be adjusted by a washer. Generally needle tuning in this type of carb is done my changing the spring that holds the slide vavle down, or by drilling out the holes in the slide vavle.

So if I want to buy jets, will the size be optional, or does the kit come with multiple sizes? I need a smaller main jet, and i was wondering if it comes with multiple sizes in case I get an exhaust or something later.

Most jet kits will come with an assortment of main jets and a needle or two, maybe a few other things, but I think they only have jets that are larger than stock. If you buy individual jets, you can get them in all kinds of sizes, bigger or smaller. If you need a smaller main, then I would just buy the next couple sizes smaller than what you have. If you do any mods, or add an exhuast, then a jet kit may be of some use to you. Just curious, why do you need a smaller main jet?

Just curious if anyone will be watching 2026 FIFA World Cup and if you have any favorites. Obviously would like to see the US win, but still going to try and watch as many matches/countries as I can with guys like Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe and the teams they represent.

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?
