2005 Honda Rancher Shift indicator Blinks?

I got a 2005 Honda Rancher 350 with a electronic shifter.. it starts and shifts but after a few seconds the indicator starts binking 3 times at a time and it will not shift any more how can I fix it.Somebody mantion that the blinking of the shifter is a code.. does any body knows what it means, I apreciate any help

my buddy has a brute force 650 and his did that and turned out to be a warning code for the drive belt,but u should get a service manual to be sure

It's the shift angle sensor. It screws in at the back of the case above the swing arm pivot. Common item on Hondas. Change that and yer goin again. Unhook battery and rehook to reset computer.

I've changed plenty of those in my travels... the blink sequence is a closely guarded secret of Honda. It may be in service manuals now, but in the past only Honda dealers knew! Check walk into any Honda dealer and say 'shift angle sensor' and they will know what you mean.
