I have a 98 Grizzly 600 that every time you turn the key on the starter engages. I've replaced the starter and solenoid. I've swapped out the ignition switch and unhooked the starter button and it still does it. I need to know if anyone else has had this problem and could offer any advice. My last thought is to completely chase the wiring harness. I looked for a starter relay, but could not locate one. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Thanks

Sounds like the starter is being used as a ground path... I don't rem if those have a starter relay or not- it will show up in an online parts catalog- if it does they are usually right next to the battery. Good, clean battery connections? Yamahas very rarely have harness problems, but chasing some wires with a continuity meter would not hurt...

Service manuals on ebay if you dont have one already.

let us know how it goes

Thanks for the info brother. I finally chased the wire and the wire from the starter button was grounded to the frame under the tank. I just cut out the old wire and replaced it with a new one. Works great! Thanks for all of your help and everyone else that helped also.

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

The one I need to replace has a 2 wire plug coming out of it. Searching eBay I see tons of them with only 1 wire . WTH???

I have a 1997 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4. It used to start right up. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't crank. I have a schematic for it so I started tracing the problem. I had no power at the starter solenoid. According to the schematic the power comes from the neutral switch and through the starter circuit cut out relay. I cannot locate the cut out relay on this machine.. If I apply power to the relay it will crank with the start button.
The neutral switch is hard to get to with all the brackets on this thing. I did find out from all my research that if I apply the rear brake lever it will start.
Does anybody know if the cut out relay exists and where it might be found?
