04 quad sport automatic, seems like it is stuck in gear and I can't get in to neutral. Thought starter was bad but I think maybe a neutral switch or something. When you turn it on it says it is in neutral. HELP!!!

The first thing I would do is check all the external shift linkage, since it is easier. There is a small shaft between the gear shift lever and the gear shift shaft, an adjustment there may solve your problem. It sounds like the shift ratchet is working, but maybe it isn't turning the shift drum. If you listen closely, you can hear the gears actually changing inside the gearbox. I would give a listen while you are trying to shift through the gears and try to determine whether you are just hearing and feeling the shift ratchet clicking, or if there are gears moving inside the tranny. There will be more noise and resistance if gears are actually being switched. If just the ratchet is working, the shifter will move more easily than usual, and you will only hear the click of the shift ratchet. If you think only the ratchet is moving, you may need to pop the side cover off of the motor on the right hand side of the machine, this is the cover on the side opposite the gear shift lever. Between the shift ratchet and gearshift drum, there should be a small pin that the shift ratchet uses to turn the drum, this may be broken.

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

I have a 1997 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4. It used to start right up. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't crank. I have a schematic for it so I started tracing the problem. I had no power at the starter solenoid. According to the schematic the power comes from the neutral switch and through the starter circuit cut out relay. I cannot locate the cut out relay on this machine.. If I apply power to the relay it will crank with the start button.
The neutral switch is hard to get to with all the brackets on this thing. I did find out from all my research that if I apply the rear brake lever it will start.
Does anybody know if the cut out relay exists and where it might be found?

I got a 2005 350 Raptor Special Edition and I'm dealing with a no start issue; the weirdest thing is when I'm cranking it fires and slows down showing signs of pre firing, smoke shoots out the carburetor every time it sparks. every electrical part (CDI, Rectifier, Stator, Coil) has been swapped out from previous owner, the top end of the engines all new and I cleaned the carb out, anyone got any ideas or similar problems, also is it possible to have a bad spark timing

HI everyone. New to this forum. I have 98 Kawasaki Bayou 400 with an apparent electrical issue. I have the Clymer manual, but I am not exactly sure where to start. The issue started a month ago and the neutral light would go on and off intermittently. Eventually it went completely off , and I thought it was a shifting issue. I took the case off and checked the clutch and all mechanical shifting components are good, so I think I eliminated that. The switch sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Last time I tried, I did hear a clicking sound near where the battery is right before the light went out. Does anyone have any ideas where to start? Hoping this is an easy fix.
